TA: Arsenal's version of Dragon Ball, Edu is fighting for Ben White and Ramsdale

The Athletic UK Arsenal reporter Amy Lawrence and James McNicholas co-authored an article about the transfer of London club Arsenal, which has been trying to attract reinforcements this summer.

(The following is an excerpt from the column)

All indications are that Emil Smith-Rowe will stay, sign a new contract and enjoy the opportunity to move on with Arsenal. After a sensational Premier League season, Smith Rowe, a creative midfielder, needed a high-paying contract extension to prove his importance to Arsenal. Arsenal know this and will act accordingly. However, Arsenal's pursuit of other key targets has not stalled with The Transfer by Smith Rowe.

Arteta's road to rebuild is long, but the most crucial thing is to re-sign an organizational core to ensure that Smith-Roy has a reliable helper on his side. So it's imperative to bring in a player who can both replace Smith Rowe and meet the requirements in the back midfield position and behind the striker – which is actually an Odegaard-style role – it is imperative. While Edu is busy reinforcing other positions and the core of the organisation seems to be a secondary position for Arsenal's signings this summer, they have to be very careful because this position is really too important.

So, they need to bring in other people besides leaving Smith-Royce, so who could it be?

Arteta's evaluation of Erdegaard was beyond imagination, and if Edgäu was put on the shelves again, Arsenal would be ready to raid at any time, and the door would always be open to the Norwegians. However, Arsenal may need to wait until late August to know if Odegaard has a place at Real Madrid, in other words, whether they can get him at that time.

Arsenal and Avar were buzzing last summer, but interest has cooled after some coverage on and off the pitch in the first half of last season. Some within Arsenal believe Avar is an affordable option due to growing financial pressures on Ligue 1 clubs, but their views on him are no longer consistent. Arsenal have not made any offers to Lyon so far and the matter will not be resolved anytime soon.

In other positions, there are quite a few negotiations underway.

Arsenal are actively recruiting this summer for a goalkeeper, a likely right-back (subject to Bellerin's departure), centre-back (Ben-Whitera's saw-in is still ongoing), left-back (Tavares has already signed), two centre-backs (Lokunga is about to sign, Thomas' other more experienced starting partner) and an organisational midfielder (number ten).

If Edu can complete all the arrangements, arsenal's potential number of people this summer will be as high as 7.

Arsenal are still looking to sign two players from England's Euro 2020 squad: Ben White and Ramsdale, brighton have been asked by other big clubs about Ben White, but Arsenal's interest remains the most positive and high priority.

Ramsdale is considered an experienced goalkeeper candidate to fill Leno and Okonkovo, but the relegated Sheffield United offer is a stumbling block. They paid a £18m transfer fee for Ramsdale last year, so it's not too much to want more. Arsenal's latest offer has been rejected, but they are still interested and will continue to pursue the England international.

Two goalkeepers could leave: Alex Ronalsson could move and the young Estonian international Karl Hine was targeting Brighton, who needed someone to replace the departing Matt Ryan.

In the case of Ben White and Ramsdale and their transfers, Arsenal want to use the add-on clause to reduce costs. For example, if they want to add some provisions related to qualifying for the Champions League, they will essentially be more willing to pay a high transfer fee if Arsenal return to their previous financial situation.

Overall, don't expect more Suarez and Willian/Cedric-style transfers unless things are particularly bad or there are opportunities that are too good to be true. In midfield, Arsenal are still keeping an eye on Wolves midfielder Neves and Sassuolo midfielder Locatelli. While Arsenal know the chances of grabbing the Sassuolo and Italy international midfielders are slim, Locatelli is the man Arsenal are up for.

But in terms of transfer out, no suitor's offer for Bellerin could be close to Arsenal's asking price. While many players are clearly pending sale, the future of many others remains to be decided, with Joe Willock, Ainslie Maitland Niles, Nketiah and Rice Nelson unsure who they will play for next season or whether their potential future transfers will be on loan or for sale.

While it's clear arsenal needs to raise some reinforcements, in some cases a small rental fee may be more valuable than a cheap sale in a sluggish market. So, in the coming weeks, it won't be easy for Arsenal to balance the accounts.

(Note: The Athletic UK has not mentioned any transfers for Arsenal and Tammy Abraham at this time, nor have there been any developments in the transfer rumors for Arsenal and Madison)
