Born into a poor peasant family

Zhou Wentfei, also known as Zhou Desheng, Zhou Minxian, zeng Qilin. Born in a poor peasant family, his mother died of illness and illness, and his father went to the county town to work as a short-term worker, cutting down on food and clothing for him to go to school. Zhou Zhifei knows that it is not easy to study, reading is very hard, and the results of each exam are always among the best, which is deeply valued by principals and teachers. When he graduated from high school, his father unfortunately died of illness, he had no source of livelihood, hunger and cold, and fell into a desperate situation. Therefore, he has a profound experience of the fiery life of the masses of the people, and has an extreme hatred for the decaying old society. He went to Chengdu alone to earn a living, first helping others and then as an apprentice of a white iron worker. In 1944, he was introduced to the Chengdu Ancestral Hall Street Associated Bookstore as a clerk (the joint bookstore is a progressive bookstore under the leadership of the Sanlian Bookstore), selling Books such as Aischi's "Popular Philosophy", Guo Moruo's "Before and After Childhood", and Gorky's "Mother". During this period, he studied at Sichuan University in the form of half-work and half-study.

Zhou Wentfei cherished the rare opportunity, forgot to eat and sleep, and studied hard. He loves all kinds of progressive books and periodicals, carefully studies them, and must remember the experience of some important articles, and strive to integrate them. His thinking progressed rapidly, and he often wrote articles criticizing the darkness and corruption of Chiang Kai-shek's regime, encouraging the people to love patriotism and unity, actively resist Japan, and strive for national independence and national liberation.

Determined to devote himself to the revolutionary cause

While reading a large number of progressive books, Zhou Wentfei came into contact with some progressive groups and organizations, and met many fellow villagers and classmates who worked in Chengdu and studied in colleges and universities, and often met with each other to comment on state affairs. Since then, he has changed from an ignorant rural youth to a revolutionary volunteer who takes the rise and fall of the world as his responsibility and actively campaigns for it.

In 1945, Zhou Qufei and Yuan Bangmin, a volunteer, launched the progressive organization, the Longchi Society, and were elected as vice presidents. He personally designed the chapter, which is designed by a torch in one hand on several books, implying that revolutionary forces are drawn from the books and work together to move towards a bright future. As the core figure of the Longchi Society, he threw himself wholeheartedly into the torrent of revolution, despite the surveillance and intimidation of reactionary authorities and spies, actively promoted all kinds of progressive books and periodicals, wrote articles and distributed leaflets, exposed the decay and darkness of the Kuomintang reactionaries, publicized unity and patriotism to the people, and called on the people to respond to the call of the Communist Party of China, defeat the Japanese aggressors, and overthrow the reactionary government.

In 1947, the joint bookstore was unjustifiably shut down after the joint bookstore sold progressive books and periodicals that angered the Kuomintang authorities. Zhou Was not targeted for arrest and was forced to leave Chengdu for Leshan, where he met Chen Yongchun, a compatriot who worked in the Leshan Gendarmerie, and escaped under Chen's cover. Subsequently, he returned to Qianwei on a minsheng company ship and lived in seclusion in the home of his close friend Liu Shouli in the city. During this period, he still did not forget to study day and night, did not forget the revolutionary work, visited president Yuan Zhongmin, who was ideologically advanced, introduced the current situation to Yuan, talked about his plans, and was praised and encouraged by the principal. He often met with his classmates, commented on the current situation, sent them the progressive publications and books he had brought back, and publicized to them the revolutionary principle that Chiang Kai-shek had launched a civil war and was doomed to collapse, and called on everyone to "take up friendship and hands and sing for the god of freedom." He also wrote letters to encourage his friends to "trade their strength for their own lives, holding torches and working toward the reality of tomorrow."

In 1948, Zhou Wentfei went to Chongqing despite the hardships and dangers, and continued to engage in the cause of progress in the Chongqing Joint Bookstore. At the same time, he worked as an editor at the "Lixin Accounting Book Society" sponsored by Gu Xuezhuang (martyr), during which he published a large number of articles exposing the darkness and decay of the Kuomintang authorities. He often encouraged himself that "revolution is not to wait, but to fight." At that time, the Kuomintang authorities frantically killed revolutionaries and innocent people in Chongqing, which further stimulated his revolutionary fighting spirit. Risking exposure, he was active in schools, factories and streets, devoting himself to the revolutionary cause of hunger, civil war, and food and clothing.

In prison, he did not forget to propagate the revolutionary truth to his fellow victims, teach and sing revolutionary songs, explain the excellent situation of the Liberation War, publicize the policies and propositions of the Communist Party, and encourage everyone to persist in fighting until the last moment to meet the dawn of victory.

Treat death as if it were heroic

On December 1, the People's Liberation Army completely eliminated the remnants of the Kuomintang troops on the outskirts of Chongqing and rushed to Gele Mountain. When everyone saw the tragic situation of hundreds of revolutionary heroes strewn across the field and the blood flowing in rivers in the White Mansion, Songlinpo, Zhazidong and other places, many soldiers who had never shed tears on the battlefield also cried out at this time!
