"Today I'm alone, so come and eat with me."
After a meeting in 1956, Chairman Mao took the initiative to speak to Deng Baoshan.
Chairman Mao invited him, how could he not accept it, and Deng Baoshan happily came to Zhongnanhai Fengze Garden. In order to entertain Deng Baoshan, Chairman Mao specially instructed the chef to make noodles and personally brought the rice over, and Deng Baoshan suddenly felt flattered.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Chairman Mao and Deng Baoshan became acquainted with each other in Yan'an, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Deng Baoshan "returned to his mother's home" and, under the correct leadership of the leader Chairman Mao, threw himself into the cause of building the motherland.
This pair of old friends who have been friends for more than decades, the past scenes come to mind one after another...

<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" data-track="10" > Deng Baoshan in Yulin</h1>
Deng Baoshan's contacts with Chairman Mao began in 1935, when Deng Baoshan successively served as director of the Gansu Bureau, commander of the New First Army, commander of the Twenty-first Army, and commander-in-chief of the Jin-Shaanxi-Sui Border Region.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Deng Baoshan covered our party's underground workers several times and helped the Red Army smoothly pass through Gansu. Deng Baoshan supported our party's decision-making on the way to resolve the Xi'an incident and supported the idea of unity and common resistance to Japan.
Chairman Mao particularly admired Deng Baoshan's patriotism and sent Liu Lantao, Wang Zhen, Yuan Renyuan, and others to Yulin on several occasions to keep in touch with Deng Baoshan.
In 1937, Chiang Kai-shek merged the 165th Division of the New First Army in Gansu and the 86th Division in Yulin to form the 21st Army, and Deng Baoshan was appointed as the commander of the corps.
Yulin is bordered by northwestern Jin to the east, Ningxia to the west by three sides, and the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region to the south, which plays a vital role in blocking the Japanese Kou.
Deng Baoshan led his troops to garrison Yulin, which could not only resist the western invasion of the Japanese army in the western part of the Pingsui Line, but also encircle the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region from the north. In order to achieve the goal of resisting Japan, Deng Baoshan gladly agreed.
Considering that the situation in Yulin would directly affect the safety of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, Deng Baoshan sent his secretary Tang Zhaowu to Yan'an to communicate with his Communist friends before setting off for Yulin.
After Tang Zhaowu arrived in Yan'an, he was personally received by Chairman Mao, Zhu De, and other important leaders.
Chairman Mao said to Tang Zhaowu with a sincere attitude: "Mr. Deng is our old friend, and in the future, there will be no problem in getting along well with our relationship. Please tell Mr. Deng that if there is anything you need, we will do our best to help. ”
Before Tang Zhaowu left Yan'an, Chairman Mao once again expressed to him the sincere welcome of our party to Deng Baoshan and his party.
During the period of guarding Yulin in the town, Deng Baoshan really had a sincere attitude and maintained a stable and friendly relationship with our party. When she first arrived in Yulin, Deng Baoshan consulted with Gao Shuangcheng, commander of the Nationalist 86th Division, and set up an office in Suide, sending people to be responsible for liaison with Yan'an.
In 1938, when Deng Baoshan was passing through Yan'an, Chairman Mao personally visited him at his residence and said to him: "Many of the generals of the Northwest Army are patriotic, and now that the Kuomintang and the Communists have cooperated and the anti-Japanese united front has been established, as long as we persist, we will certainly be able to defeat the Japanese aggressors. ”
"This is Mr. Nakayama's last wish and the demand of the people of the whole country." Deng Baoshan replied seriously.
Mr. Deng, who has a patriotic heart, has always been a close friend of our party.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" data-track="15" > deep interaction with Chairman Mao in Yan'an</h1>
In April 1939, Deng Baoshan went to attend a meeting organized by Hu Zongnan, and he had to pass through Yan'an. The traffic fortress between Yan'an and Yulin, both sides trust each other, and neither side sent troops to garrison it.
Therefore, when Deng Baoshan passed through Yan'an, he was not discovered by our side, and when the leader of our party expressed deep regret, he specially called and said: "Commander-in-Chief Deng has been through Yan'an, has not been notified, has not received, and I hope to forgive!" ”
Our party is willing to receive Deng Baoshan's arrival at any time with a sincere attitude, and the leaders have specially instructed that we must pay attention to Deng Baoshan's movements passing through Yan'an on her way back and do a good job in receiving her.
In May, when Deng Baoshan and his party returned to Yulin and stopped at a mule and horse shop when passing through Yan'an, Comrade Jin Cheng, head of the Communication Office of the CPC Central Committee, learned of this news and immediately called Chairman Mao and the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee for instructions.
Chairman Mao gave instructions that we must warmly welcome and give preferential treatment to Deng Baoshan and others. Following Chairman Mao's instructions, Jincheng soon arrived at Deng Baoshan's residence.
Yu Jundu, deputy director of Deng Baoshan, received Jin cheng and others, and Yu Jundu politely declined Jincheng's grand offer to invite Deng Baoshan and the others to stay at the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government Guest House, and they did not want to disturb the CPC leaders and the border region government because of their own itinerary.
Since it was late at night, considering that Deng Baoshan and his party were tired and needed to rest, Jin cheng was not in a position to say much, so he had to leave and reported the situation to Chairman Mao in time.
Early the next morning, Jincheng came to visit again, sincerely expressing the intention of our party leader Chairman Mao and the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region Government to retain his stay. Deng Baoshan heard the sound and said very sincerely: "This time passing through Yan'an, the time is really rushed, I did not dare to disturb the government of the border region, we live very well here, we will not bother you." ”
"Hearing that you have come, I have reported to Chairman Mao and the Government of the Border Region. Chairman Mao and the Government of the Border Region have very welcome your arrival and hope that you will stay in Yan'an for a few more days and meet you. "Jincheng once again gambily retained.
Fortunately, his retention did have an effect, and Deng Baoshan no longer resigned, but stayed behind to meet and talk with the main leaders of our party.
As soon as Chairman Mao and Deng Baoshan met, they had a very opportunistic conversation, and Deng Baoshan was also touched by the sincerity of Chairman Mao's words and opinions, and he originally planned to stay only one more day, but later decided to stay for a few more days.
In Yan'an, Deng Baoshan and Chairman Mao had several talks, and the two always had endless conversations; Deng Baoshan also met other leaders and was invited to attend literary and art evenings, mass meetings, and other public activities, and Deng Baoshan and the masses in Yan'an had a very pleasant time.

What others don't know is that in fact, Deng Baoshan's own daughter is also in Yan'an. Deng Youmei is the second daughter of Deng Baoshan, who previously studied at The Three Plains Girls' High School, and during her time at school, Deng Youmei joined the Minxian Team and actively participated in the activities of the team.
A year ago, through the introduction of the CPC Sanyuan Liaison Station, Deng Youmei came to Yan'an alone and entered the Northern Shaanxi Public School to study theoretical knowledge in depth.
Now her father Deng Baoshan is in Yan'an, but Deng Youmei is reluctant to come to see her father, and she is afraid that her father will sternly blame her choice, so she is reluctant to meet her father.
Under the persuasion of a group of classmates around, Deng Youmei was late to meet with her father Deng Baoshan, before the meeting, Deng Youmei was worried in her heart, and even made preparations for how to argue with her father, she must persuade her father to respect her choice to study in Yan'an.
But Deng Youmei did not expect that her father Deng Baoshan did not have the imaginary sharp words and cold eyebrows, but instead of her father's earnest care, Deng Baoshan asked her about her life and study in Yan'an, and encouraged her to be positive.
Deng Youmei only then let go of the worries in her heart, and after a brief reunion between the two, Deng Youmei bid farewell to her father and happily returned to school to continue her studies.
Deng Baoshan's trip to Yan'an ended happily. After that, every time she went out for a meeting, Deng Baoshan used to stay in Yan'an for a few days, had in-depth exchanges with Chairman Mao, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Lin Boqu, and other comrades, and enhanced friendship over time.
In particular, the friendship between Chairman Mao and Deng Baoshan was very profound, and the two often exchanged letters and exchanged gifts; at that time, Deng Baoshan gave Chairman Mao cigarettes of various brands, while Chairman Mao gave Deng Baoshan pickups and books made in Yan'an.

In 1943, Chiang Kai-shek telegraphed Deng Baoshan to Chongqing for a meeting, and Chiang Kai-shek asked him to take a detour from Ningxia to Chongqing, and Deng Baoshan murmured unhappily: "If you don't specify a route, you will just go to Yan'an." As for Chiang Kai-shek's instructions, Deng Baoshan ignored them.
He came directly to Yan'an, and on the day of his arrival in Yan'an, everyone lined up to welcome him, and Chairman Mao greeted Deng Baoshan and his entourage in the auditorium of the CPC Central Committee and warmly welcomed them.
Chairman Mao and Deng Baoshan had long since become old friends who knew each other well, and as soon as they met, Deng Baoshan quipped, "Mr. Mao is a little fat!" ”
"This is caused by our military and civilians engaging in large-scale production campaigns, and there is enough food and clothing, and Mr. Deng's body looks much better." Chairman Mao smiled and squinted.
Whenever he passed by Yan'an, Deng Baoshan seemed to reunite with his old friends, sitting with Zhu De, He Long and other leaders, and everyone chatted about the current situation.

In November of the same year, before Deng Baoshan arrived in Yan'an again, Chairman Mao earnestly advised: "Mr. Deng is a united communist and anti-Japanese faction in the Kuomintang, and our unity policy toward him remains unchanged, and if he has any difficulties, we should help him." ”
Our party regards Deng Baoshan as a friend who treats each other sincerely, and deng Baoshan is no different. When attending the Congress of Labor Heroes in the Border Region, Deng Baoshan spoke passionately: "I am everyone's friend! "Win a round of applause.
However, Deng Baoshan's trip to Yan'an occasionally appeared to be more "not very good". In order to receive Deng Baoshan in a friendly manner, the Communication Office specially arranged several literary and artistic evenings and prepared many performance programs for her.
There are some criticisms of Chiang Kai-shek in the program, which makes Deng Baoshan, who is watching the performance offstage, a little embarrassed, in his capacity, there is really no way to follow everyone to applaud, only to express a little praise in the boiling of people.
When the plot of Chiang Kai-shek being knocked to the ground appeared, Deng Baoshan was even more embarrassed, and Zhou Enlai and Lin Boqu, who accompanied him, were also a little angry about the improper arrangement of the communication office.
After the performance, Jin Cheng, the director of the communication office, was criticized and asked to prepare another performance to try his best to eliminate the bad influence.
The next day, under the meticulous preparation of the communication office, the performance ended smoothly, and was praised by Deng Baoshan, which successfully resolved the previous embarrassing situation.

Due to Deng Baoshan's friendly coexistence with the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region, Hu Zongnan's siege plan was repeatedly defeated.
"Last year the situation changed, Sir did his best, we will not forget. Eight years of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Mr. Li supported the northern front and protected the border area, for the great virtue, do not dare to forget. ”
In 1944, Chairman Mao sent a special letter to Deng Baoshan, highly appreciating his boldness and loyalty. In fact, Chairman Mao wrote to Deng Baoshan several times, a total of more than a dozen.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" data-track="23" > Deng Baoshan of "mother's house"</h1>
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the motherland was at a critical juncture of two destinies, and Deng Baoshan quickly saw the situation clearly, understood the urgent desire of the broad masses of the people to pursue peace, and resolutely made a choice: "As long as there is a glimmer of opportunity, I will be determined to make a contribution to the people's revolutionary cause." ”
Deng Baoshan tried to persuade Fu Zuoyi to accept the Communist Party's advice and choose the path of peace. In January 1949, Deng Baoshan was entrusted by Fu Zuoyi, commander-in-chief of the North China Bandit General Headquarters, to hold face-to-face discussions with representatives of the People's Liberation Army, Such as Nie Rongzhen and Luo Ronghuan, and finally reached the "Agreement on the Peaceful Settlement of the Beiping Issue.".
Therefore, Deng Baoshan is also known as "a key to the peaceful liberation of Peiping".
After the peaceful liberation of Peiping, Fu Zuoyi and Deng Baoshan were invited to Xibaipo to have cordial exchanges with Chairman Mao, Zhou Enlai, and other leaders.
In the conversation, he mentioned the idea of future work arrangements, Fu Zuoyi said that he wanted to devote himself to the national water conservancy cause and seek the well-being of the people, and Deng Baoshan originally wanted to contribute to the water conservancy construction with Fu Zuoyi.

Chairman Mao already had an idea in his heart, and he said to Deng Baoshan in a serious tone: "Chiang Kai-shek will not give you the chairman of the province, we will give you the chairman of Gansu Province, the people of Gansu need you, And He Long and Peng Dehuai will also welcome you in the northwest." ”
In Xibaipo, Deng Baoshan also met his old friend Zhou Enlai, who sincerely praised him for doing a good deed for the people: "We are good friends who have cooperated for a long time, and now you should go back to your 'mother's house'." ”
"I did one thing for the peaceful liberation of Peiping, even if people go back to their 'mother's house' to meet and greet." Deng Baoshan replied.
Later, with the efforts of Deng Baoshan, the remaining Kuomintang troops stationed in Yulin and the Kuomintang troops stationed in Suiyuan revolted one after another, sincerely surrendered, and decided to embark on the people's road.
In March, the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the People's Liberation Army moved to Beiping. Chairman Mao set off from Xibaipo to participate in the military parade at Xiyuan Airport in Beiping, and Deng Baoshan was also invited to participate.
After seeing Deng Baoshan, Chairman Mao held his hand tightly: "After saying goodbye in Yan'an for 45 years, it has been more than 4 years now, and our old friends have met again. ”
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Deng Baoshan became the first governor of Gansu Province, and he worked hard in his post and was determined to live up to the trust of Chairman Mao, Zhou Enlai, and other leaders.
In December 1949, Deng Baoshan was attending the inauguration ceremony of the Military and Political Committee in Suiyuan when he suddenly received a telegram informing him that the Gansu Provincial People's Government would soon be formally established on January 8, 1950, and inviting him to preside over the inauguration ceremony at that time.
The day of the ceremony was just around the corner, and Deng Baoshan's time was already very urgent, and he wanted to rush to Lanzhou, Gansu Province, as soon as possible, but suffered from traffic obstructions.
The Lingbao Bridge section of the Longhai Railway, which was damaged during the war, has not been repaired, and Deng Baoshan cannot take the train; if he takes a car, time is far from enough. After some thought, Deng Baoshan received instructions from Premier Zhou Enlai and chose to travel by plane.
Deng Baoshan was on the original Air China Airlines passenger plane, the aircraft's various machines are operating normally, but a few pieces of cabin glass were damaged, during the flight, the wind outside will whistle in, blowing people still a little cold.
In order to protect everyone's safety, all the passengers, including Deng Baoshan, were issued parachutes, and everyone had to carry them on their backs at all times in case of emergency.
Perhaps in the eyes of others, taking such a plane is too dangerous, and even some people are afraid, but Deng Baoshan is not afraid, and his heart is full of people's affairs, and there can be no delay.
Deng Baoshan calmly put on the parachute, put on the coat, as soon as he boarded the plane, he began to sleep calmly, and after 5 hours, the plane landed safely. Deng Baoshan presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Gansu Provincial People's Government with great vigor, and he will do his best to lead the broad masses of the people to build a new life.
In Lanzhou in the early days of liberation, there were traces of war everywhere, and the people's lives were also very difficult, Deng Baoshan saw the scene of life suffering, and deeply felt that he had a long way to go.
During his presidency of various work in Gansu Province, Deng Baoshan attached great importance to investigation and study, and he kept in mind the instructions of the organization and often went deep among the masses, listened to the opinions of the masses, and experienced the sufferings of the masses.
Deng Baoshan's footprints have spread throughout more than seventy places in Gansu Province, in some poor and remote places, vehicles can not pass smoothly, Deng Baoshan got out of the car to walk to, he gradually grew older, and also suffered from high blood pressure and other diseases, but he completely ignored these resistances and insisted on going among the people.
"If you don't go to poor areas, you won't know about Gansu." Deng Baoshan said so. So he tried his best to understand the lives of people all over the province.
Regarding the development of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, water conservancy undertakings and other work in Gansu, he actively put forward ideas, cared about and supported the construction of many projects, attached importance to cultural and educational undertakings, and advocated the protection of cultural relics and monuments.
It can be said that in practical work, he always kept in mind the policies of the Party Central Committee, and at the same time combined with local development, sought truth from facts, and a few years later, Deng Baoshan became a good governor who was deeply respected and loved by the masses.
"I was born in the year of the Sino-Japanese War, I can be said to have been born of sorrow and suffered from sorrow, and now I can see with my own eyes that New China stands tall in the world, which will be the greatest satisfaction and pride of my life." Governor Deng Baoshan said so.
Pictured| Chairman Mao and Deng Baoshan
Of course, in the new post, Deng Baoshan did not let go of the revolutionary friendship with Chairman Mao for several years. In 1956, Deng Baoshan attended a meeting in Beijing, and after the meeting, Chairman Mao took the initiative to say to Deng Baoshan: "Today I am alone, so you and I should go to dinner together." ”
How can Chairman Mao refuse an invitation! Deng Baoshan happily came to Zhongnanhai Fengze Garden, and in order to entertain Deng Baoshan, Chairman Mao specially instructed the chef to make noodles and personally brought the rice over.
Deng Baoshan was a little flattered, and quickly stood up, ready to pick up the meal brought by Chairman Mao, and said with a smile: "How can I let the chairman serve me food?" ”
"I'm going to do the same." Chairman Mao waved his hand.
On that day, Chairman Mao and Deng Baoshan had a pleasant meal together, and they talked very happily, they talked about the past and the development of Gansu today, just like when they were in Yan'an, they knew everything and said everything.
