For the sake of the revolution, many people, regardless of the danger to their lives, lurked inside the enemy and secretly provided intelligence to our side. Wu Shi was one of them, breaking into the enemy's interior. No one expected that he would eventually be identified by the enemy for a piece of steak and killed.

General Wu Shi, a red agent who provided important information and intelligence in the Liberation War, sacrificed the truth

In 1894, Wu Shi was born in a small village in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. He had lofty ambitions and was determined to become an outstanding military man and win glory for the country. At the age of 17, he and his friend Wu Zhongxi joined the Northern Expeditionary Army in Fujian, participated in the Xinhai Revolution, and began his military career. After that, he studied at the Preparatory Officer School and Baoding Officer School in Wuchang for 4 years, and his grades always remained the first in the school. As a result, he became famous at the Officer School and later went to the Japanese Artillery School to further learn military skills. After graduation, he returned to China and worked as an instructor at the Army University of the Republic of China government, teaching students while studying military things, and also wrote a number of military works. There were many senior generals in the Republic of China government, all of whom were his students. In 1936, Wu Shi was awarded the rank of major general.

At first, Wu Shi and Wu Zhongxi had hopes for the Republic of China government, and they advised the regime against our army. Although Wu Shi's military theories are rich, he somehow refuses to let him lead troops, so he has no chance to go to the battlefield, which he regrets. Wu Zhongxi later discovered that the Republic of China government was corrupt, fighting for power and profit, fighting for contention, and failing to do practical things for the people. What is even more infuriating is that its leaders ordered the northeast to be ceded without firing a single shot, and the three eastern provinces were handed over to the Japanese, so that he could see the true face of the Republic of China government completely. Therefore, Wu Zhongxi abandoned the secret and surrendered to the light, and secretly joined our army on the eve of the outbreak of the Lugou Bridge Incident. Since then, he has been lurking inside the enemy, passing information to us.

After the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in order to better carry out intelligence work, Wu Zhongxi was ordered to find an old friend to help him find a real position in the Government of the Republic of China. With Wu Shi's help, he was able to serve as the chief inspector of the Inspectorate and was better able to gather intelligence. After 1947, Wu Shi was very dissatisfied with the dictatorship of his master, and he also knew the true identity of his friend, and the balance in his heart slowly tilted towards our army. He took the initiative to provide conditions for his friends and gave great support and help to their work. In 1948, under the introduction of his friends, Wu Shi secretly joined our army, directly contacted the organization, and provided important military intelligence. He used his position and network of contacts to provide us with a lot of important information. The victories in the Battle of Huaihai and the Battle of Crossing the River were all credited to General Wu Shi.

In July 1949, Wu Shi approached Wu Zhongxi and told him that he had been transferred to the deputy chief of staff of the "Ministry of National Defense" and was going to follow him to Baodao. Wu Zhongxi knew what his friend was going to face and suggested that he stay and go to the Liberated Areas. But he refused, saying that he woke up too late, did too little for the country and the people, and personal risk was nothing, and insisted on continuing to lurk inside the enemy. In this way, he took his wife and two children to Treasure Island, and the eldest son and eldest daughter were left on the mainland.

After the collapse of the Republic of China government, it was always unwilling and tried to sabotage the new regime and plan some riots. Due to the destruction of the underground organization on Treasure Island, Wu Shi was unable to convey the information directly to the organization. Therefore, the organization sent Zhu Chenzhi to Baodao to be responsible for contacting a person named "Lao Zheng". "Old Zheng" is named Cai Xiaoqian, who is the head of the area. Under his matchmaking, Wu Shi and Zhu Chenzhi got in touch, and Zhu Chenzhi obtained a batch of top-secret information and sent it back to the mainland. On the other side, Old Zheng's identity has been exposed, and the enemy is ready to capture him.

On the night of January 29, 1950, someone found the agent who was squatting in Cai Xiaoqian's house and said that it was Cai Xiaoqian's friend. The agent warmly received him and invited him to eat steak in the most exclusive Western restaurant on treasure island. Previously, due to the poor light, I did not see the true face of the people who came. After arriving at the restaurant, the agents found that this person was Cai Xiaoqian and arrested him on the spot. After that, he betrayed our army and provided the enemy with more than 400 lists, including Wu Shi and Zhu Chenzhi. The enemy did not believe that he was our agent, and sent someone to carefully investigate his identity, and eventually his identity was confirmed.

On June 10, 1950, General Wu Shi was executed, which was the Wu Shi case that shocked the world. The general was only 56 years old when he died. In 1973, in recognition of the general's special contribution to the great cause of the reunification of the motherland, General Wu Shi was posthumously recognized as a revolutionary martyr. In 2000, the general's children brought the remains of their parents back to the mainland and buried them in Beijing's Futian Cemetery, and the general finally returned to the mainland after many years of absence.
