In 1992, 14-year-old Shen Xue was selected by coach Yao Bin from more than 100 people, changed from single skating to pair skating, and became a partner with Zhao Hongbo, who was 6 years older than himself.

At that time, Shen Xue was thin and small, less than 1.5 meters tall, and the pair skating technique was almost zero-based, which made Zhao Hongbo, who was already the champion of the National Games, a little dissatisfied, saying that he would practice for a month to see. What everyone did not expect was that these two people held hands for a lifetime.

In the history of Chinese figure skating, the combination of Shen Xue / Zhao Hongbo has a milestone significance, and the career of the two is almost the epitome of Chinese figure skating. In Nagano in 1998 and Salt Lake City in 2002, Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo repeatedly rewrote the best results of Chinese pair skating at the Winter Olympics. In 2005, Zhao Hongbo broke his left Achilles tendon, almost ruining his career, and eventually recovered under the careful care of Shen Xue, and won a bronze medal at the Turin Winter Olympics. At the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo won the first gold medal in Chinese figure skating at the Winter Olympics after their comeback.

At the 2007 World Championships in Tokyo, Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo perfectly performed the french composer Manet's work "Meditations". At the end of the song, Zhao Hongbo and Shen Xue kissed deeply on the ice, announcing their love to the outside world. Before this, when the media asked about the relationship, both of them laughed and called each other "brother and sister". If pressed further, the two will say that they are "good friends in life." Coach Yao Bin has also been helping them to play cover, in order to let them have less interference and train with peace of mind.

After returning from Tokyo, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo registered in Beijing for a license, but the wedding was delayed until 3 years later due to the competition. On September 4, 2010, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo had an "ice wedding" at the Capital Gymnasium, which is also the home of Chinese figure skating, and they are too familiar with this place to be familiar with it.

After retiring, Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo are still fighting in the front line of figure skating. In June 2017, Zhao Hongbo succeeded master Yao Bin as the head coach of the Chinese figure skating team. On January 18, 2018, the Chinese Figure Skating Association was established, and Shen Xue served as the first chairman.

In 2013, the daughter of Shen Xue and Zhao Hongbo was born, named Zhao Xue'er, and the daughter inherited the excellent figure skating genes of the two. Last year, Zhao Xue'er won the national figure skating club league enlightenment group, and the family of three became the national champion.
