Changchun, August 6 (Sun Boyan) Chen Lei, vice chairman of the Environment and Resources Protection Committee of the Jilin Provincial People's Congress, introduced in Changchun on the 6th that September 26 every year is set up as the "Jilin Ecological Day" to promote high-quality economic and social development and accelerate the construction of an "ecologically strong province".
On the same day, Chen Lei attended a press conference held by the Information Office of the Jilin Provincial Government and gave a briefing on the relevant situation.
Chen Lei introduced that on July 5, 2021, the Jilin Provincial Government submitted a motion to the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress to apply for the establishment of a "Jilin Ecological Day". On July 30, the 29th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th People's Congress of Jilin Province voted and adopted the Decision of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Jilin Province on the Establishment of the "Jilin Ecological Day".
In 1999, Jilin Province was approved as a pilot project for the construction of a national ecological province. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the proportion of days with good air quality in cities at the prefecture level and above in the province reached 89.8%, and "Jilin Blue" became the norm of life. In addition, all surface water national examination sections have reached the standard, inferior V. water bodies have been completely eliminated, and black and odorous water bodies in urban built-up areas above the prefecture level have basically completed treatment; soil environmental quality, forest coverage, grassland comprehensive vegetation coverage, and natural wetland protection rate have also increased steadily.
Chen Shaohui, deputy director of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jilin Province, said that the province will focus on solving the ecological and environmental problems of the masses' anxieties, difficulties, worries and expectations, and promote the high-quality economic and social development of the province with a high level of ecological environmental protection.
Among them, in terms of atmospheric environmental protection, we will further promote the coordinated control of fine particulate matter and ozone, implement the coordinated treatment of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds in key industries, and implement differentiated and refined collaborative control of key regions, key periods, key areas and key industries. "The main goal is to strive to reach more than 92% of the number of good days by 2025 and more than 93% by 2030."
Chen Shaohui also mentioned that Jilin Province will continue to promote the restoration of the habitat environment of wild animals and plants, carry out rescue protection of endangered animals and plants, and highlight the protection of flagship species such as the Northeast tiger leopard and the Chinese autumn sand duck.
