Aristotle once said: Goodness is precious, noble and praiseworthy. Indeed, to evaluate a person from within himself. Having a kind and tolerant heart is far more important than having a beautiful appearance. However, in this complex world, not everyone can be kind to those innocent and kind people. Some people will even take advantage of the innocence and innocence of others to do harm to others because of their own desires.
In 19th-century Mexico, there was a ill-fated woman who had been kind and kind all her life, but because of her ugly and unique appearance, she was discriminated against and ended her life painfully. Her name was Julia Pastorona, a woman born with hereditary hirsgrainism and was known as the "ugliest woman."

In 1834, in an ordinary Mexican Indian family, a strange baby girl was born—she had thick hair all over her body, her facial features were larger than ordinary people, and her jaw was protruding, which was extremely ugly. In Mexico at that time, medical knowledge had not yet been popularized, let alone in this ancient feudal Indian tribe. People who saw the baby girl thought she was a monster and persuaded her mother to drown the baby so as not to bring ominousness.
As a mother, after all, you can't do such a cruel hand to your own daughter. She chose to take her daughter away from the tribe, to leave the country, to protect her in her care, and to give the baby girl a beautiful and sweet name- Julia Pastrona.
However, the cruelty of reality is incapable of protecting the innocent Julia Pastorona like every gentle and tolerant mother. As she grew older, both studying and living became a problem that Julia had to face:
Because of her looks, no school was willing to accept her and let her go to class with her classmates; Julia couldn't do the average job - she was only less than a meter and four meters tall, and the ordinary labor force was difficult to bear... In addition, no matter where she goes, she will be discussed and pointed out by others.
But under Julia's ugly appearance, there is indeed a kind and intelligent heart. Maybe God opened a window while closing a door, Julia was capable and intelligent, and she had a beautiful singing voice, and she was a perfect woman aside.
The governor at the time was interested in taking care of the poor mother and daughter, so he hired Julia into his own home and made her a maid. The kind-hearted Julia soon mingled with the rest of the governor's family. Perhaps, Julia could have lived this life in such a calm and stable way, but unfortunately, the cruel reality and the ugly heart finally put Julia on a tragic road.

Soon after, the governor was ordered to leave the city. Julia, who has lost her job, is back to her original wandering state. It was then that she met a wandering performer named Theodore. At this point, the second half of her life changed.
Theodore's first reaction when he saw Julia was that she was a valuable cash cow - in Europe at that time, people generally had a hunting mentality, like to see those "strange creatures" that were different from ordinary people.
For Theodore, such a deformed and ugly Julia is simply the best tool to make money. He tricked Julia and her mother and gave julia's mother a large sum of money, claiming that he would make Julia a good life. Under Theodore's wild lies, Julia finally chooses to follow Theodore — after all, she needs a job that she can live on.
In order to make Julia a better cash cow, Theodore even hired language teachers, dance teachers and vocal teachers to teach Julia knowledge and talents. With Julia's clever mind, she quickly became proficient in English, Spanish and Indigenous languages, singing and dancing to a professional level. In this way, under the careful packaging and arrangement of Theodore, Julia's first performance began.
Theodore erected a large billboard on the streets of London with the words: Long bearded and hairy lady.
Under the trend of people's curiosity, Julia's debut is full of people — all of whom want to see the true face of this "deformed creature" first. Theodore's purpose was perfectly achieved: Julia's performance was a success. Her ugly face, exaggerated dance, and witty singing were met with bursts of applause and cheers from the audience.
Amid the frenzied shouting, none of them cared what Julia was thinking on stage. In their eyes, Julia is like a red orangutan for people to enjoy and play. Only pity the innocent Julia, no one realizes that she is also a person.

After Julia's "perfect debut", many businessmen realized what a precious "cash cow" Julia was. In order to get her, more than 20 businessmen wrote to her to propose marriage, trying to poach her in this way. But the cunning Theodore has already directed himself to perform a marriage proposal drama, and once again uses rhetoric to coax the naïve and simple Julia to become his wife.
Julia believed it at first, even writing in a letter to someone else: "He [Theodore] really loves me." "
At the same time, Julia's performance brought him a generous reward, so that Theodore gradually revealed his evil nature - in order to earn more profits, he began to force Julia to overload the performance, otherwise he would punch and kick her. In addition to the performance, he locked Julia at home and forbade her to go out, but he spent his days outside drinking and having fun with other women...
Julia's fame grew. Even the famous biologist Darwin was aware of the woman's existence. In his writings, he described Julia as "an impressive woman, despite her thick whiskers. "
In 1859, Julia became pregnant. The very next year, when she gave birth to her child with great hope, her child also inherited hirsutism and died 36 hours later.
Due to Julia's natural thinness and the lack of necessary postpartum care, Julia died a few days later at the age of 26 in grief. Heinously, Theodore did not stop his persecution because of her death— he asked an unsuspecting professor in Moscow to make a specimen of Julia and her children to continue his world tour.
However, the cycle of cause and effect, good and evil eventually have their own endings – in 1884, Theodore suffered from severe neuropathy and eventually died alone in a Russian madhouse. This may be God's punishment for the cruel and inhuman behavior of his life.
Since then, the corpse specimens of Julia and her children have been torn around the world several times, and Julia's body has been destroyed due to various twists and turns, but because of people's various selfish desires, they have not received a peaceful ending.
Finally, in 2005, at the initiative of a Mexican artist named Laura Anderson Barbat, there were calls for Julia's body to be transported back to her hometown, which was eventually supported by the government.
Julia, who has been wandering outside for nearly two hundred years, can finally be buried as a human being. During that dark time, she had to become a tool for making money in the hands of businessmen, a "hunting curiosity" and "monster" used by people for fun. And all of this is only because she unfortunately suffered from a rare disease.
On the day of the funeral, Laura Anderson Babat said: "Julia's story is so important that it is her right to restore her dignity, historical status and people's memories of her. Indeed, if we can be more tolerant and understanding of those who seem to be "alien" in our dealings with the minority, then the world will be less tragic and more flickering of human light.
