Xu Jingda (1934-1987), alias Ada, a native of Kunshan, Jiangsu Province, was the fifth director of the China Film Association and the fifth director of the China Artists Association.
Ada (Xu Jingda) is a Chinese art film creator and cartoonist. He has painted, designed and directed many films. In 1980, his "Three Monks" won the Ministry of Culture Excellent Film Award and the Best Art Film Award at the 1st Golden Rooster Film Awards
He was elected as a director of the Chinese Filmmakers Association, a director of the China Artists Association, the president of the Shanghai Comics Society, and a director of the International Animation Association.
After the "Cultural Revolution", he and Lin Wenxiao co-directed "One Night in the Gallery", which has a unique concept and profound meaning, no dialogue in the whole film, and a high degree of combination of picture and music, achieving a high artistic effect. In 1979, he won the Ministry of Culture Outstanding Film Award and the Best Art Film Award at the 2nd Hundred Flowers Film Awards. In 1980, his director "Three Monks" won the Ministry of Culture's Outstanding Film Award and the 1st Golden Rooster Film Award for Best Fine Art Film; he also won the Silver Medal at the 4th International Children's and Youth Film Festival in Denmark, the Silver Bear Award at the 32nd West Berlin International Film Festival, the First Prize in Group C of the 6th Portuguese International Animation Festival, and the Special Prize at the 2nd Romecia International Film Festival. In 1983, he directed "Thirty-Six Words" and won the Educational Film Award at the 3rd Zagreb International Animation Film Festival in Yugoslavia.

Ada introduced
In 1951, he was admitted to the Animation Department of Suzhou Academy of Fine Arts. The following year, he transferred to the Animation Department of Beijing Film Academy.
In 1953, after graduating from the Animation Department of the Beijing Film Academy, he joined the Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio. In 1956, he worked in the art film "The Proud General". Since then, he has successively served as an artist or background designer for films such as "Little Tadpole Finds Mother", "Big Li, Little Li and Old Li", "After School", "We Love the Countryside" and so on.
In 1978, he directed "One Night in the Gallery", which used music and pictures and dialogueless comic style to expose the cultural despotism of Zhen Na Tax. He co-directed China's first color widescreen animation film, Nezha Noisy Sea, which won the Best Art Film Award at the 3rd Hundred Flowers Film Awards in 1980, the 1979 Outstanding Film Award of the Ministry of Culture, the Special Award at the Manila International Film Festival in 1982, and the Jury Award and the Widescreen Long Animation Award at the 7th Bour Bolas Youth International Animation Film Festival in France in 1988. The representative animation film "Three Monks", with profound meaning, humor and humor, harmonious and unified shape, action and music, has a strong national style, won the Best Art Film Award at the First Golden Rooster Awards of Chinese Cinema in 1981, the Excellent Film Award of the Ministry of Culture in 1980, the Silver Award of the 4th International Fairy Tale Film Festival in Odense, Denmark, the Best Film Award of the 6th International Animated Film Festival in Portugal in 1982, the Silver Bear Award of the West Berlin Film Festival, and the Special Award of the Manila Film Festival in the Philippines in 1983. In 1984, he wrote and directed the animation film "Thirty-Six Words", which was novel in conception and rich in imagination, and won the Group D Educational Film Award at the 7th International Animation Film Festival in Zagreb, Yugoslavia in 1986. The animation film "Super Soap" won the Best Art Film Award at the 7th Golden Rooster Awards of Chinese Cinema in 1987, the second prize in the educational film category of the 2nd Hiroshima International Animation Film Festival in Japan, and the special award for fine art film at the 1st Shanghai International Animation Film Festival in 1988. For his participation in the creation and research of ink animation production technology, he won the first prize of scientific and technological achievements of the Ministry of Culture in 1985 and the second prize of national science and technology in 1987. In 1983, he was appointed as a jury member of the 14th International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France.
