Reviews of LEGO's new road system were mixed, but that didn't stop Ideas fans from giving the bike lanes piece the support they needed, making it the last to enter the first official review in 2021. Now that 57 pieces are on LEGO Billund's desk, the rest of the problem will be left to a LEGO designer to solve, let's take a look at this work first.

The work was submitted by Idea platform user Marcel Steeman, who lives near Amsterdam, the Netherlands, almost directly facing the North Sea. The 41-year-old fan opened his own Idea account nearly two years ago and has been involved in very little activity so far. That changed at the end of January, when he submitted his first work to the platform. On this first test, he managed to convince Idea fans and entered an enviable review period 97 days later.
According to his own description of the short work, the Dutch are very concerned about road safety – so it is almost natural to increase road safety in Lego cities. His Idea works work seamlessly with the newly released road system and aims to add a safe bike lane that visually stands out from the gray road.
Appearing in the work is a "bicycle" expansion kit for road safety, consisting of about 150 pieces of pellets and 3 dolls, plus a baby. The core elements of this idea are the new road elements, using 60304 (road floors) and 60306 (shopping streets), which are simply dyed a striking blue. In addition, there are 3 bricks printed with patterns that make the new bike path recognizable. To bring this idea to life, the doll has 5 different types of bikes available: a bike with a child seat, a bike with a box in front, a bike with a bike bag, and everything is taken into account.
Of course, bicycles should not simply be littered in the city, which is why there are three parking brackets, plus bike locks, so that the bike also gets a good anti-theft device. One man's car apparently had a flat tire because of repair tools including a pump.
Two street signs enrich the setting of the street. On the one hand, the 30 km / h sign reduces the speed of cars in Lego City, on the other hand, the new bike lane has its own sign.
The work not only gained favor on the Idea platform, but also attracted the interest of a high-circulation Dutch daily newspaper that covered the work in double pages.
By now, the number of Ideas works entering the first review stage in 2021 (before May 3, 2021) has reached a staggering fifty-seven! These works have already entered the first official review in 2021. Until the official review results came out in mid-October, we didn't know who would end up in a production kit.
The other fifty-six entries are: LEGO Astronaut, Castle Fantasy, Welcome to the Black Parade, Stadium Parade, DNA Double Helix, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Flying Universal Car, Street View Expansion Pack, Medieval Bazaar, Winter Snow Crystal Ball, Lisbon Tram, Princess Bride, Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Retro Arcade, Portal Modular Lab, Movable Bowling Alley, Violin, Viking Longship, Country Post Office, The Office, Succulent Garden, Ancient Greek Temples, SpaceX Starships and Super Heavy Rockets, Steampunk Airships, Canada Via Railroad - Canadians, Sea Life, Map of Middle-earth, Lego Totoro (Cat Bus), Jazz Quartet, Alberobello's Dome Stone House, Polar Express, Train Bookstand, Christmas Eve Horror Halloween, King's Castle, Sewing Workshop, Forth Bridge, A Good Day on the Farm, Brick Forest Castle, Collection! Careful friends may have found that there are actually 58 works in the list, but the STADIUM TOUR (stadium tour) was cancelled by Lego from the list due to IP, so the final number of works is 57, which is much more than the record of 35 set last year!
After the May 3 deadline, Ideas works that reach 10,000 supporters will be eligible for the next review period beginning September 6, 2021.
