Pine wood nematode disease, also known as pine wilt disease, is a devastating disease caused by pine wood nematode parasitizing the body of Songmo Tianniu, relying on Songmo Tianniu to invade pine trees to complete the infection cycle caused by a devastating disease, Dayi County's existing Masson Pine Forest area of 0.47 million mu, is the susceptible tree species of Pine Wood Nematode Disease, so strengthening the control of Pine Wood Nematode is the key to preventing pine wood nematode disease from invading our county.
On August 24, 2021, the county forest defense station invested more than 20,000 yuan in special funds for prevention and control, introduced more than 110,000 swollen leg wasps from Sichuan Agricultural University into the pine forest area, prevented and controlled 0.47 million mu of pine forest in the county, and invited Professor Yang Wei of Sichuan Agricultural University to go deep into the forest area, and explained the prevention and control principles, prevention methods, and release locations of Songmo Tianniu for more than 20 grassroots forestry cadres and pine forest monitors. At the on-site training meeting on prevention and control, the county forest defense station demanded: First, the towns (streets) to which the pine forest belongs should further strengthen the monitoring and inspection of the pine forest in their area and the usual assessment and management of the monitoring personnel. Second, the monitoring personnel should carry out full coverage prevention and control in the area under their jurisdiction, and strictly follow the general requirements of the work of "not missing a mountain, not missing a forest, and not letting go of a tree" to carry out comprehensive prevention and control one by one. Third, in the process of prevention and control, once the dead pine trees are found to be cleaned up immediately, and abnormal conditions such as pine needle discoloration are found, they are immediately reported to the county forest defense station for sampling and identification to confirm whether they are infected with pine wood nematode disease. Up to now, no abnormal deaths of pine trees have been found in Dayi County.
