Born on 27 October 1992 in the port city of Savona in northwestern Italy, Sharavi plays as a striker and has dual Italian and Egyptian citizenship. Coming from genoa academy in Serie A, Sharawi made his first-team debut in December 2008 at the age of 16. Before playing for Roma, he played for Genoa, Padua, AC Milan and Monaco. During his time at AC Milan in the 2011–2015 season, Sharawi played 102 games for the Rossoneri, scoring 27 goals and assisting 13 goals. In the 2016 season, Shaarawi moved to Roma and made 139 appearances for Roma in the next three seasons, scoring 40 goals and assisting 26 goals. In the past 18/19 season, Shaarawi made 33 appearances in Serie A and the Champions League, scoring 11 goals and contributing 7 assists. At the national team level, Sharawi chose to play for Italy, making 23 appearances for the Italian national team and scoring 3 goals.

The addition of Sharavi will effectively strengthen the attacking power of Shenhua's frontcourt, enrich the offensive means, and help the team destroy the city, overcome difficulties and achieve more victories in the second half of the season.

In addition, the club has reached a transfer agreement with South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Club, and South Korean high school striker Kim Shin-woo will officially join Shenhua. In his four seasons with Jeonbuk, Kim Shin-woo scored 50 goals in 153 appearances and provided 23 assists. As of now, in the 2019 season, Jin Xinyu has made 16 appearances and contributed 8 goals and 3 assists, and made 7 appearances in the AFC Champions League, scoring 4 goals. The addition of Jin Xinyu will effectively enhance the impact of Shenhua's front, play the greatest role under the tutelage of former mentor Choi Kang-hee, and help the team make greater progress.

In terms of internal support, the club also brought in centre-back Li Yang from Guimarães Football Club in Portugal, as a member of the 97-year-old national youth team and a member of the active national Olympic team, Li Yang played in the French Toulon Cup with Hiddink's national Olympic team in June 2019 and scored a goal in the group stage against Ireland.
