Interview with Hong Kong artist Horseshoe Lu: Do the right thing without regret, the sense of superiority of the chaotic Hong Kong elements is ridiculous

Editor's note: The HKSAR Government has revealed that it aims to pass the Improving the Electoral System (Comprehensive Amendment) Bill 2021 by the end of May in order to carry out the preparatory work for the election. This also means that Hong Kong has gone further towards fully implementing the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong". From now on, Nandu and N Video launched a special report on "Star Language Hong Kong" to listen to how Hong Kong celebrities send a message to Hong Kong's tomorrow.

In the 2019 Hong Kong "amendment storm", Hong Kong TVB female artist Horseshoe Lu once filmed a picture of black rioters destroying the BANK of China's ATM, and was attacked by a number of thugs on the street, resulting in facial and head injuries, and after being sent to the hospital for more than ten stitches, she was also slandered and attacked by some media, and the incident caused widespread concern. More than a year later, Horseshoe Dew was interviewed by southern metropolis daily and N video reporters. Speaking about that experience, she bluntly said that she "never regretted coming forward."

Born in Hong Kong, as a TVB actor, Horseshoe Lu is known as the "Golden Green Leaf", and his representative works include "Deer DingJi", "Tianlong Babu", "True Feelings" and so on. On the screen, horseshoe dew is often shown in an exaggerated and humorous image, bringing a lot of joy to the audience. In real life, she has the true disposition of speaking out in righteousness, and during the illegal "Occupy Central" incident in Hong Kong in 2014 and the "amendment storm" in 2019, she has publicly made patriotic and pro-police remarks many times.

"'Patriotism' is not a slogan for me, but a most sincere emotion. Just like the return of Hong Kong in 1997, when the Chinese People's Liberation Army stepped into Hong Kong, I could feel the strong arms of the motherland, and since then the motherland has been the most solid reliance for Hong Kong. She said.

【Nandu Interview】

Talk about the storm: The damage caused by the attack to my psychology is far greater than my body, but I have not regretted it

Nandu: In 2019, Hong Kong experienced a "storm over the amendment of the law", what did you see in Hong Kong?

Horseshoe Dew: In the past two years, Hong Kong has indeed experienced a lot of unrest. Especially during the "storm over the amendment of the law", Hong Kong was like a sick person, and a large number of rioters emerged overnight, ignoring the law and morality, under the banner of so-called "freedom and democracy", disrupting the Legislative Council, wantonly destroying Hong Kong's public facilities, attacking ordinary people, and doing everything possible to suppress voices that disagreed with them. At that moment, I suddenly felt that Hong Kong was very strange.

Nandu: In the nearly one year since the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, what changes have taken place in Hong Kong?

Horseshoe Dew: My most intuitive feeling is that after the promulgation of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the lives and property safety of ordinary citizens have finally been re-protected, and there is no need to worry about travel. The Hong Kong rioters also realized that they had to bear the consequences of their actions, and immediately stopped the arrogance and arrogance of the past. Young people in Hong Kong also seem to be calming down, wondering whether the brainwashing fanatical slogans are worth the things they will regret for the rest of their lives.

I believe that since the return of Hong Kong in 1997, the Hong Kong National Security Law has been a missing link in Hong Kong law, and it is precisely because of this that the Hong Kong rioters have been given the opportunity in the past. Fortunately, it is still too late to make up for it. The promulgation of the Hong Kong National Security Law has made me see more clearly the motherland's support for Hong Kong, and I am very grateful for this.

Nandu: During the "Amendment Storm", you were attacked by thugs, how is your body recovering now?

Horseshoe Dew: At that time, I saw a mob smashing the ATM machine of the Bank of China, so I took out my mobile phone to shoot, but they attacked, and one of the thugs even smashed me directly on the head with a glass bottle.

This black-and-white upside-down thing is incredibly ridiculous, but it happened in Hong Kong, it happened to myself. Today, the wound at that time has basically healed, only part of the head is still partially bruised, and occasionally faint pain.

The psychological damage caused by that attack was far greater than the physical pain, but I was not afraid or unfair about what happened to me, but for Hong Kong. I don't understand why Hong Kong has become like this, why is the thinking of the younger generation in Hong Kong so distorted? Looking back on it now, I admit that I was a bit impulsive at the time, but never regretted it because I was just doing what I thought was right.

Talk about feelings: Some touching may not represent anything, but I have the most simple feelings for the motherland

Nandu: During the "Amendment Storm", you insisted on publicly supporting the police and expressing your patriotic and patriotic voices for Hong Kong, and in the recently broadcast new drama "Guy Remember to Do Big Things", you also played a policeman.

Horseshoe Lu: Actually, when I was a student, I also considered applying for the police force, but at that time, it was because I liked the handsome uniform. So after I became an actor, I was very excited whenever I was able to play the role of a police officer in uniform, and this was also the case in "Guys Do Big Things".

The difference is that this drama was filmed during the "storm of revision of the law", and it was also during this period that I was attacked by a mob, injured my head and face, and received more than ten stitches after being sent to the hospital. And when I returned to the crew again and put on the police uniform, I suddenly realized that this uniform was on a mission. This also makes me more grateful to the Hong Kong police for their contributions to safeguarding the rule of law and protecting Hong Kong citizens during the black riots in Hong Kong.

Nandu: How do you understand "patriotism"?

Horseshoe Lu: When I was in middle school, Chinese history and Western history were still required subjects in school, and our generation knew how unforgettable history China had experienced. My parents also experienced the hard years of war, and from their mouths, I knew that the old China had been invaded by Japan and Western countries, forced to sign unequal treaties, and Hong Kong, as part of the motherland, had since begun a century-long colonial period. Therefore, in 1997, when Hong Kong was returned to the motherland, when the People's Liberation Army stepped into Hong Kong, I could feel the powerful arms of the motherland, and from then on the motherland was the most solid reliance on Hong Kong.

Since the return to the motherland, Hong Kong has gone through many storms under the protection of the motherland, and this emotion has also accumulated in my heart. I don't know how to count "patriotic", but when I see Chinese soldiers holding on to the frontier step by step, and seeing the whole country twisting into a rope to fight the epidemic, I am proud that I am Chinese for life; when I see the black rioters sabotaging the Hong Kong Legislative Council, I will be sad and cry. These feelings may not represent anything, but they are my most simple feelings for my motherland.

Nandu: Some people have commented that some Hong Kong youth lack patriotic concepts, what do you think?

Horseshoe Dew: At present, some young people in Hong Kong are indeed poisoned by the idea of "Hong Kong independence" and insist on calling themselves "Hong Kong people" and refuse to admit that they are Chinese. I believe that the root of the problem lies in education in Hong Kong.

Since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, "Hong Kong independence" elements with ulterior motives have quietly infiltrated Hong Kong's education system. In the classroom and even in the textbook, they instilled a distorted concept of the legal system into the students, portraying the police as "bad guys" who were opposed to the citizens. It is precisely because of the existence of these "poisoners" that the "white paper" that is eager to learn is poisoned.

Talk about expectations: I hope that Hong Kong will adjust its pace as soon as possible and start again

Nandu: How do you feel about the development of the mainland in recent years?

Horseshoe Dew: Due to my work, I have been to many places in the mainland, especially in many cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. I have witnessed the rapid development of the motherland in the economic, scientific and technological, infrastructure and other aspects in recent decades. At the national level, an example worth mentioning is that China already has a high-speed railway that can cross the "Belt and Road", and it is bringing the concept of open, inclusive, balanced and inclusive regional economic cooperation to more countries. From a personal point of view, with the blessing of Internet of Things technology and logistics network, mainland residents can already use a mobile phone to solve big and small things in daily life.

Contrary to the smear of "drug media" in Hong Kong, I see that the mainland is safe and free, and the enthusiasm of people to live and work is also deeply inspiring to me. In contrast, the Hong Kong rioters who only take from society and express their dissatisfaction in a destructive way have such a narrow vision. I think it's ridiculous that they still cling to their inexplicable sense of superiority, know nothing about the development of the mainland, or don't want to admit it.

Nandu: What are your expectations for Hong Kong's future?

Horseshoe Dew: I hope that Hong Kong can adjust its pace and start again as soon as possible with the help of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the principle of "patriots governing Hong Kong". Especially in terms of education, I believe that Chinese history should be re-included as a compulsory course in primary and secondary schools, and at the same time strengthen national education, so that students can correctly and comprehensively understand history and increase their sense of national identity.

In addition, now that the cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area have formed a "one-hour life circle", which makes the interconnection between Hong Kong and the mainland more convenient, I hope that more young people in Hong Kong can seize this opportunity to personally walk into the mainland and see the great rivers and mountains of the motherland.
