In July 1984, a certain unit of the Nanjing Military Region received an order to participate in the Battle of Laoshan and was ordered to drive to the front line. On February 11, 1985, the unit took the initiative to attack, with the strong support of artillery, in less than an hour, captured a forward position of the Vietnamese army in one fell swoop, killed and wounded nearly 200 Vietnamese troops, repelled dozens of counterattacks launched by the Vietnamese army, and completed the combat tasks entrusted by the superiors.
Before this battle, the Beijing chief inspected the front line, and the commanders and fighters were greatly encouraged, not only to strike a fierce blow at the arrogance of the Vietnamese army, but also to improve the position posture and at the same time achieve the effect of training the troops. However, in this intense battle, a football team forward who went down to the company to train resolutely signed up for the front line to participate in the battle after receiving the notification of being selected for the national youth team. When blowing up the Vietnamese fire point and charging towards the main peak position, he accidentally stepped on the mine and lost his left leg forever. Leaders and comrades-in-arms used to call him "Little Sun".
XiaoSun is a very good football striker, as a young player, in the domestic youth football championship "Bud Cup" and "Hope Cup" and other competitions, outstanding performance, won the "Best Player" and "Best Striker" and other titles.
With excellent performance, Xiaosun was favored by a strong military team. In July 1984, just when Xiaosun received a notice to report to the youth football team of the Nanjing Military Region, he unexpectedly received two other notices.
One was a notice of selection for the national youth team; the other was a notice that his unit was going to the front line of Laoshan in Yunnan to participate in the round battle.
It is reasonable to say that as a "sports soldier" who goes to the grass-roots level to exercise, there is no need to go to the front line to kill the enemy. However, Xiaosun is a skeletal and bloody athlete. When the troops are about to fight, but they themselves leave the troops, is this not greed for life and fear of death, and they are fleeing from the battlefield? He not only went to the front line with the troops, but also worked very hard in pre-war training, cultivated a strong military skill, and squeezed into the sharp knife class. Before the war, Xiaosun wrote a letter of invitation on canned box paper: "Willing to dedicate youth to the motherland!" ”
On the Laoshan front, large and small battles are frequent, the combat time span is long, and the density of mines is extremely high. Some veterans recalled that a hailstorm under the old mountain could smash a lot of mines and blow up trees. Cattle enter minefields and are often killed and injured. On the front line of Lao Shan, in order to strengthen the post that was blown up by the Vietnamese army, a squad leader unfortunately touched a mine next to the banana tree more than 10 meters in front of the post, and died on the spot!
The third large-scale demining of the Sino-Vietnamese border
In the ten years of the Sino-Vietnamese War, how many mines were planted on the border between the enemy and us? That's an astronomical number that can't be counted exactly!
After the battle of pulling out points on February 11, 1985, the artillery unit of our army launched artillery preparations, and just after the shelling was over, Xiao Sun's sharp knife squad took the lead and rushed towards the Vietnamese defensive position in the face of the smoke that had not yet dissipated. Unexpectedly, in the process of charging, the sharp knife squad was crushed by a condescending remnant fire point of the Vietnamese army, and it was fiercely pressed under the hillside and could not move, and several soldiers of the sharp knife squad were unfortunately shot and killed.
The squad leader who charged in front of him was suddenly shot and fell to the ground. When Xiaosun hugged the squad leader with tears, the squad leader said intermittently in an extremely weak voice: Xiao Sun... It's a pity... I have not yet...... Seen... You kick a game... Ball..." After the words were finished, the squad leader closed his eyes forever.
Xiao Sun put down the body of the squad leader and shouted to the comrades next to him: "Cover me, I will blow it up!" Before the words could be heard, Xiao Sun picked up the four grenades tied together next to him and rushed up without hesitation. With the physical fitness of the athletes, he quickly approached the Vietnamese positions. Without waiting for the Vietnamese to react, he pulled on the cluster grenade in his hand and threw it directly into the Vietnamese bunker. With a loud bang, the Vietnamese bunker was blown away.
However, when Xiao Sun then charged at the main peak of the Vietnamese army, he inadvertently stepped on a landmine with his left foot. A violent explosion caused Xiao Sun to faint on the spot. When he woke up from his coma, he found that his left leg was gone.
The football striker broke his leg, which means the end of his sports career!

In the European Cup, the Dutch star Marco Van Basten, who scored at a zero angle, is a legendary striker in world football, and had to say goodbye to the green field early due to a serious leg injury. Xiao Sun was blown off a leg on the battlefield, much more serious than Van Basten.
A year later, XiaoSun, who returned to Tianjin after retiring from the army, although wearing a second-class meritorious service medal, when he saw his football enlightenment coach, he said with great pain: "Coach, I'm sorry, I can't play football anymore!" The coach said in a serious tone: "Xiao Sun, defending the motherland and shedding blood and sacrificing is more glorious than fighting for honor in the football field!" Don't be discouraged, believe that you can get another gold medal in the disabled field! ”
On the front line of Laoshan Mountain, the infantry has such a saying: "When a mine is sounded, the state will raise it." However, after retiring from the army, Xiao Sun faced the reality of one-legged, and in the situation where the football dream has been shattered, he did not reach out to the country and was unwilling to add a burden to his relatives. He was self-reliant and, encouraged by his football coach, was actively involved in paralympic competitions, breaking the Paralympic record at the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona and winning the gold medal in the javelin event.
