Qingyang is the former site of the Soviet government of the Shaanxi-Gansu Border Region, and the revolutionary base area of Shaanxi-Gansu Border centered on Qingyang Nanliang provided a foothold for the Party Central Committee and the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in the Long March and a starting point for the Eighth Route Army to go north to resist Japan. Today, the glorious revolutionary history here has become a rich mine for the study and education of party history.
