The TV series "Double Detective", starring and supervised by Duan Yihong, is currently airing. For this work, he held two hats and devoted himself to the work inside and outside the camera.
In that conversation last year, I listened to Duan Yihong and his friends talk about the creation process of this work. Anxious or not, it records Duan Yihong's various insistences and compromises.

The phone call was originally made by Zhang Guoqiang to Duan Yihong.
In the summer of 2019, actor Zhang Guoqiang heard that a play called "Double Detective" has been launched, and is recruiting actors, and then look, the producer is actually his old acquaintance and good brother from fourteen years ago - Duan Yihong, the "comrade-in-arms" who has filmed "Soldier Assault" and "My Regiment Leader My Regiment" together. He didn't believe it, and a phone call came over.

Duan Yihong was filming "Fox Hunting" in Thailand at the time, and it was nearing the end, and he just happened to rest and was doing massage. On the other end of the phone, his brother Zhang Guoqiang came up and asked, hey, you do the supervising producer? A: Yes. Zhang Guoqiang asked again: Why didn't I hear you talk about it? A: Ah, I didn't say. And asked: Why don't you say it? A: Why do you say that? The massage master waited quietly on the side, and Duan Yihong split his head and asked: You say it quickly! What's up? Zhang Guoqiang cut to the point, saying that he had a friend who wanted to act in this play and knew that they had a good relationship, so he asked him to ask. Duan Yihong naturally did not have two words, and asked him to send information.
In the end, this person was not selected because it was "inappropriate"—something at the level of artistic creation—and Duan Yihong was unlikely to make any human concessions.
But this phone call indirectly led to another aggregation, just because Zhang Guoqiang added before hanging up the phone: "Old Duan, do you have any characters in that (play), two or three scenes, and then you take a box lunch like that, you give me one." He asked at the time: Brother Qiang, are you kidding. He strong brother replied: I am not joking, you are the first time to be a producer, our brothers have to support you.
"Brothers?" Duan Yihong thought at that time, what does it mean? Who are the "guys"? Xing Jiadong and Duan Yihong have known each other for twenty years, and they have entered the National Drama Theatre and acted in dramas together. Qi Shuai did not fully agree with the conclusion that "Duan Yihong was not anxious". When she first saw Duan Yihong ten years ago when she visited "My Regiment Leader My Regiment", she remembered "the light of the crazy performance in his eyes, very recognizable." After that, Qi Shuai joined Tencent as vice president of Penguin Film and Television and general manager of Penguin Film and Television Sky Studio. Duan Yihong starred in "The World of the Great Qin Empire" and "Double Detective", Tencent is the producer, and Qi Shuai changed his identity and continued to have in-depth cooperation with him.
In Qi Shuai's view, it is almost impossible for a person to be both a producer and a star, and it is almost impossible not to be anxious.
One day, the team members talked about how to attract more audiences on the basis of ensuring that the artistic tone was not damaged, and Duan Yihong heard it and immediately convened a meeting overnight to discuss the balance between artistry and popularity. The various departments summarize the problems on his side every day, and he will always give feedback in time for the first time, almost no matter day or night.
"He's the kind of person who puts his emotions in his heart and then devotes himself to creation, and it's his responsibility that makes him seem less anxious." Qi Shuai said.
It was also that sudden snow that sealed the mountain, which made Duan Yihong find himself smarter.
Supposedly, such a thing, put in the past, he would be "impatient", "this time I am smart." That's a matter of nature, it's already happening, can you make it stop? You can't make it stop, I can't resist, so I don't want to worry about it, that's not what I should worry about. Because of this, I found that I didn't look like me anymore, and I improved." On the contrary, he told himself that we had a large group of people who ran to Yanji in the winter and in the woods at minus 20 degrees Celsius to shoot a scene, didn't we want snow? "That's the texture that this play needs."
He "deliberately" asked his companions, who were standing in the snow and looking around dazedly: "You said you didn't expect the snow to fall so much, did you think it wouldn't snow?"
"I've gotten smarter, I've become sleek. At the creative level, if I can make the dimension of results and quality higher and better, I can learn to communicate with others in a way that pays attention to methods, as long as it is to maximize the value of artistic creation. Why not?"

At the same time that I was defeated by Duan Yihong's professionalism, I suddenly remembered a detail that Li Juan, a writer who lived in Xinjiang for a long time, once wrote a detail, she went to the ranch as a guest and asked the old man who was herding sheep whether it would be boring every day, what were they doing when they were herding sheep, what else could they think. Duan Yihong also read Li Juan's book and spoke for his grandfather, "People are herding sheep, you have to force others to say something, you see... Right, I'm not like a Xinjiang person now, I've become able to speak, you know. They were all forced out."
Duan Yihong also went to the ranch between the previous shooting work, in the Tangbula grassland of Ili. Over there, he also left a knot and a thought.
There was a little girl in the rented grassland homestay, and one night when Duan Yihong and his friends were about to finish eating, she walked over to him and asked him if he could take a picture. Duan Yihong asked her, do you know who I am, the girl said she didn't know, they said you were an actor. His habit of "thinking too much" came up again, thinking, "They don't count what they say, you're indiscriminate." Just tell the little girl that she is now drunk and has a thick neck, and she will get up tomorrow morning to take a picture.
The next day, after he had eaten breakfast made by the homestay compatriots with cow dung fire, he got in the car to prepare for a trip, it was raining lightly, and the little girl stood outside the car again, patting the glass, and asked, Can I take a group photo? He refused again. Why?
"I don't know, I just think, she's not that intense, she's calm. And I'm still thinking in my heart, you don't know who I am, what do you do for a group photo? And we're going to come back to their house for dinner at noon anyway." He told the little girl, let's take a group photo at noon.
As a result, the rain was getting heavier and heavier, and they didn't come back and went straight to the next stop. This group photo was never taken again. It wasn't until a few days later, when he returned to the city of Ili, that he learned through a friend's message that the girl had been waiting for him to return that day. "She must have been disappointed."
"Then I thought about that picture, the look in the child's eyes, and I felt doubly that she was a disappointment, that I didn't go back, that I didn't finish, that I felt a lot of self-blame, that I didn't do a good job... I thought it might be complicated again." Duan Yihong remembers that the little girl told them that she liked to dance, and when she grew up, she wanted to learn to dance in a big city. He remembered himself when he was also a teenager, because he wanted to go to art school and meet some literary and art workers from afar, and there would be "admiration" and "envy" in his heart, "then you will feel that you are one step closer to your dreams." But he lost a child because of his "complexity".

He later immediately found a place in the local area to print a photo of himself, write his name, and a word of hope that her dream would come true.
"I must, I must take this picture to the little girl's hand, I must bring it." Then I'll feel a little more comfortable."

Speaking of the past, Duan Yihong still remembers the morning when he left home alone in middle school to study in Beijing.
After breakfast, his mother took him to the bus stop – he would take the bus to the coach station first, and then change trains. Ten minutes away, he felt very far away. "Why do you know what?' [Because neither of us] speaks."
At that time, the family didn't understand what he wanted to do, "they thought it was nonsense." What do you do as an actor? What kind of acting do you study?" The father is a typical Xinjiang man, introverted, not very expressive, father and son are both sharp; the mother is the first to stand up and express her support for her son.
Duan Yihong carried bread and two buckets of Eight Treasure Porridge in his bag—a delicacy he could only eat when he was sick. The bag was quite heavy, and he carried one on his back and one in his hand. On the way, his mother told him to take care of himself. After a long time, he said that when he went out, he should treat people with sincerity. Duan Yihong really didn't know how to answer the call, and came with a hard scalp: I treat others with sincerity, what should others do if they deceive me? Mom faded back: You are not a fool, others can still lie to you a few times. "Now that I think about it, it seems to be quite philosophical."
At that time, Duan Yihong was bent on leaving home and growing up quickly, and no one cared about him. Now he understood that his willfulness was more like an escape.
Now, nearly thirty years later, Duan Yihong is more and more in love with his family.
The details of the morning he left home, one year when he came home during the Spring Festival, he told all his brains to his niece, who cried - she was brought up by her grandmother. "The house I bought for my mom was right next to my niece's key high school, and it was only a 5-minute walk, so my mom heard the school bell ringing after school and started cooking for the kids, and she came back just in time to eat." My mother worked hard for three years, and my niece went to college." Duan Yihong, who is a little uncle, wants her to understand that she must learn to express herself, and grandma is old and needs us to remember her.
"We are all used to our parents being manipulative for us, we are all used to not being moved by it, or we are used to avoiding, we are used to emotional numbness, we are used to not expressing... But, I think we can be softer and more expressive."
In the past, when my mother thought about him, she would watch his TV series by herself, and now Duan Yihong would say, what TV series you watch, watch real people, and immediately call a video.
"It's not filial piety, I need her." My mother is 88 years old.

Duan Yihong remembers that when he was a child, there were "dozens of altar jars and jars, large and small, and when he ate, he took the bowl and took the pickles to eat." Now, mom's craft has been passed on to my sister. On the morning we met, he also sent a message to his sister saying, I am back in Beijing, your pickles, hurry up and go! Home-grown lettuce, cut into strips, dried, marinated with honey, brown sugar, rock sugar and other secret ingredients for two weeks, whether it is drinking porridge or mixing white rice, Duan Yihong can't get tired of eating.
Is life a hard thing? Right. But Duan Yihong would no longer hide anything. Even if the truth makes people depressed, as long as they know what they want to cherish, such a life is worth living well.
