On Sunday, a senior official at the Road and Traffic Authority (RTA) announced at Gitex, the region's largest information technology show, that downtown Dubai will soon launch a self-driving delivery vehicle, developed by Chinese company Neolix.

Al Awadhi, director of transportation systems at RTA, said self-driving delivery vehicles will be used to solve the last-mile delivery problem.
It will be deployed along the Emaar Boulevard line in downtown Dubai, where the vehicle will transport goods from retailers on its own without human intervention.
The delivery system is very smooth, and the self-driving delivery truck will deliver the package to the designated location, and the recipient can scan the QR code to pick up the goods.
Al Awadhi noted that self-driving delivery vehicles can be used to deliver food, parcels and a variety of goods.
Neolix manager Jason Wang said the delivery van automatically recognizes objects such as pedestrians, motorized vehicles, non-motorized vehicles, barricades, lane lines and traffic lights.
