Beijing International Film Festival "Temple of Heaven Award" 15 films shortlisted

On March 30, the Organizing Committee of the Beijing Film Festival announced the shortlisted films of the "Temple of Heaven Award" and the opening and closing films, the progress of the "Beijing Screening" and the preparation of the science and technology unit. It is understood that the Beijing International Film Festival "Temple of Heaven Award" will select 10 awards, and 15 shortlisted films have been selected so far. At the same time, the screening session brings together many Chinese and foreign masterpieces, and nearly 80 pre-screening and post-screening exchanges and salon activities will be held.

The shortlisted films of the 8th Beijing International Film Festival "Temple of Heaven Award" came from 6 continents and 71 countries and regions around the world, and 659 films participated in the competition, an increase of 235 compared with the 7th film application. After five rounds of screening, 15 films from 19 countries were shortlisted for the "Temple of Heaven Award", including the Czech film "Barefoot", the Indian film "Dark Wind", the Georgian co-production film "Mama", the French film "Dog", the Canadian film "Looking at Juliet", the Chinese film "Eighteen-Hole Village", the British film "The End of Travel", the South African film "Klodova", the Romanian film "Octav", the Chinese film "Red Sea Action", the Georgian co-production film "The Other Side of Hope", Israel and other countries co-produced the film "Testimony", and the Iranian film "The Road Not Chosen".

A total of seven world-famous filmmakers were invited to vote for the Best Film Award, Best Director Award, Best Actor Award, Best Actress Award, Best Supporting Actor Award, Best Supporting Actress Award, Best Screenplay Award, Best Cinematography Award, Best Music Award and Best Visual Effects Award by voting.

After many screenings, the Organizing Committee of the Beijing International Film Festival selected "Behind the Scenes Player" as the opening film of this year's Beijing International Film Festival among many excellent Chinese and foreign films, and "The Chronicles of the God of War" as the closing film of this year's Beijing International Film Festival. The opening film "Behind the Scenes Player" is produced by Xu Zheng, directed by Ren Pengyuan, and co-starring Xu Zheng, Wang Likun, Wang Yanhui, Duan Bowen, Ren Dahua, Yu Hewei, telling the story of Zhong Xiaonian, who is sitting on hundreds of millions of assets played by Xu Zheng, who was accidentally kidnapped and had to complete a dilemma choice question under the control of a mysterious person. In addition to the "Temple of Heaven Award", the "Beijing Screening" link is also eye-catching for fans, and the screening will start online ticket sales on April 1. The aesthetic style of Chinese cinema is what the Beijing International Film Festival has been pursuing. At the film festival, the latest 4K restored versions of "Horse Thief" and "Yellow Land" by the China Film Archive will be premiered. Renowned Hong Kong filmmaker and actor Xu Feng will join seven films to talk to film researchers, including a 4K restored version of "Rolling Red Dust" that will be screened in Beijing for the first time. In addition, the two films "Man, Ghost, Love" and "Village Opera" use traditional opera elements to explain modern conceptual consciousness from different perspectives.

The 8th Beijing International Film Festival is also committed to making the "Beijing Screening" another important platform for exchanges and cooperation between China and the global film industry. The famous director Ruben Ostlund, winner of the Cannes Palme d'Or, member of the national jury of this year's "Temple of Heaven Awards" and famous director, will appear in the post-screening event of the film "Rubik's Cube". Not only that, classic films from the Czech Republic, Poland and Serbia along the "Belt and Road" and new works from the northern country of Canada will also usher in a grand screening and a number of meeting activities during the "Beijing Screening".

For the first time, this year's film festival will include the "science and technology unit" in the relevant activities, with the theme of "film, make science and technology more exciting", in the form of special effects films such as dome movies, giant screen movies, 4D movies and dynamic movies, to bring the public a scientific and technological film experience, and the film festival has created an industry exchange platform for special effects films to show the achievements of global special effects films. On 15 April, the BBC blockbuster film Ocean will be unveiled as the opening film, explaining that the film's creator and Chinese voice actor Ji Guanlin will interact with the audience.
