The ballet "Shining Red Star" was born in 2018, which is a tribute from the people of Shanghaiba to the 40 years of reform and opening up, the inheritance of the revolutionary spirit, and the continuation of the red feelings. Choreographer Zhao Ming strives to use romantic creative means to realize the encounter and fit between the simple and resolute image of Chinese soldiers and classic ballet skirts, create the image of Pan Dongzi, a flesh-and-blood Red Army soldier, and impress the audience with the most authentic emotions.

In the past three years, the original ballet "Shining Red Star" has won praise from audiences, media and professionals, and has been staged in Beijing, Nanchang, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Jinan, Xi'an and other major cities across the country, performing nearly 100 performances. With the strong support of the National Arts Fund, the Shanghai Cultural Development Fund and the Shanghai International Dance Center Development Foundation, the Shanghai Ballet and the main creative team have always been unremitting in revising and polishing the works.

Zhao Ming sculpts his works with ingenuity, from plot, dance section, music to stage beauty, overturning and reorganizing again and again, grasping the inspiration that bursts out, and refining the stage presentation. The Shangba actors also used all their time to put into the rehearsal of the dance drama modification, and Wu Husheng, the chief actor of the Shangba who played the Red Army soldier Pan Dongzi in the play, led his friends to soak in the rehearsal hall for revision and rehearsal. Whether the revised "Red Star" can capture the hearts of the audience remains to be seen! (Xinmin Evening News reporter Zhu Yuan)
