Yan Zhiqiang is a substation maintenance worker at the Chengdu Pidu Power Supply Branch of the State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company. The substation maintenance class of Pidu Power Supply Company where he worked undertook the maintenance, pre-testing, relay protection commissioning and emergency handling of all 35kV and below substation equipment in all 13 substations within the power supply range of Pidu District.
Yan Zhiqiang mainly participated in the 110kV Tongshan bridge substation, Yongdian substation outlet interval expansion project, 110kV pixi tube substation reconstruction and expansion project, 363 Hospital, Pidu District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Rong Line 2 tram supporting electricity commissioning project and other important projects.
Adhering to the "safety first" and guarding the "lifeline", Yan Zhiqiang always established a correct safety awareness, served as a safety officer of the substation maintenance class, and organized the team to insist on weekly safety learning and discussion. At the same time, he served as the person in charge of the annual "0" violation, and completed a series of work such as 110kV Tongshan Bridge and Pixie Substation Capacitor Bank Insulation Overhaul with high quality. His colleagues told reporters that Yan Zhiqiang has always taken quality and safety as the starting point and foothold of various work with a rigorous working attitude, and continuously improved the technical skill level of substation maintenance and high-voltage test operations, laying a solid foundation for safe production.

In the face of emergency repair tasks, he always rushed ahead, from the handling of critical accidents in substations, the investigation of safety hazards in bad weather, to the accident handling of user equipment and the investigation of hidden dangers of equipment after disasters, etc., he was busy everywhere.
