Eruption of Mount Etna in Italy Volcanic ash spreads to cities 50 km away

At about 8 o'clock local time on October 23, Mount Etna in Italy erupted, and volcanic ash and rubble spread to Taormina, a coastal tourist city about 50 kilometers northeast.

Catania Airport, located in the south of the volcano, is operating normally, but the highest level of red flight warning has been issued.

Volcano experts said the eruption process was slow, with the volcano showing signs of eruption four days ago. It was the 60th eruption of the Southeastern Etna Crater since mid-December last year, and this more frequent eruption could last for years. (Reporter Yin Xin)
