"Draught does not forget to dig the well" is a primary school Chinese text that everyone is very familiar with, and the "well" mentioned in it is the "red well" located in ruijin shazhou dam.
In April 1933, the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic was relocated from Yeping in Ruijin to Shazhouba. At that time, the sandbar dam was a place of drought and water shortage, not only was there no water to irrigate the fields, but even the masses had a very difficult time drinking water. Locals have been drinking water, washing and feeding livestock for generations using water from the same pond. Due to water pollution, vomiting and diarrhea often occur, and water problems seriously affect the lives of the people of Shazhouba.
After the Provisional Central Government moved from Yeping to Shazhouba, Mao Zedong, chairman of the Central Government, found that the masses here drank dirty pond water from ponds, and he took the problem of drinking water difficulties in mind. In September 1933, Chairman Mao Zedong led government workers and local people to dig the "Red Well". In order to make the well water clearer, Chairman Mao also personally went down to the bottom of the well to lay sand and stone and pad charcoal.
With practical actions, Chairman Mao set an example for the cadres of the organs and the masses of Shazhouba, and the central organs set off an upsurge of digging wells. Since then, the people of Shazhouba have ended the history of drinking dirty pond water and drunk clear and sweet well water.
After the Red Army's Long March left Ruijin in October 1934, the Kuomintang reactionaries made a comeback, and the local people launched a tit-for-tat struggle against the enemy. Whenever they encountered difficulties and were oppressed, the villagers of Shazhouba always quietly came to the well and sat silently by the well, thinking of the Red Army in the distance, the Communist Party, and Chairman Mao.
The "Red Well" is a historical testimony of the Chinese Communists who cared about the lives of the masses and did practical things for the masses of the people. The sweet red well water has nourished generations of people. According to statistics, from the excavation of the red well to the present, more than 9 million people have drunk the red well water, which is the well with the largest drinking population in the world.
So, let's follow the reporter's lens and approach this "red well" dug by Chairman Mao Zedong himself!
