Beijing, 25 Oct (China News Service) -- An academic symposium to commemorate the 76th anniversary of Taiwan's restoration, sponsored by the Memorial Hall of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Association for the Advancement of Relatives of Taiwan's Resistance Fighters, was held in Beijing on 25 October. "76 years ago, Taiwan completely got rid of Japan's 50-year-long colonial rule, returned to the embrace of the motherland, thoroughly washed away the century-old humiliation of the Chinese nation, effectively defended state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and is a glorious chapter that will forever be recorded in the annals of history, irrefutably proves that Taiwan is part of China's territory, and the fact that the mainland and Taiwan belong to the same China has never changed." Mu Xuefeng, director of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, pointed out at the meeting that the most important thing in commemorating Taiwan's restoration today is to gain wisdom and valuable enlightenment from history and unite compatriots on both sides of the strait to work together for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
He said: The history of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan and the restoration of Taiwan enlightens us that the CPC is the mainstay of the War of Resistance Against Japan, and we must always uphold the leadership of the CPC; this is the choice of history and the choice of the people; the mainland and Taiwan are an inseparable community of common destiny; and compatriots on both sides of the strait should join hands to work together to work together for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Xiao Kaiping, president of the Taiwan Anti-Japanese Relatives Association, pointed out that the most important significance of Taiwan's Guangdong Festival is not to forget that the ancestors are the descendants of Yan huang.
