Lü Dongbin asked Master, "How many years have it been since the day you became enlightened?" Master said, "There are more than eleven hundred years." Lü Dongbin asked, "In such a long period of time, how many people has Master spent in total?" Master said, "Only you are alone." Lü Dongbin said, "How can you only spend time with me for such a long time, you see I spent three years to spend three thousand people to prosper our Taoist family." Master said, "I'll give you three years, and as long as you have one person, I'll count you in." ”
Before Lü Dongbin came down from the mountain, Master handed him a "Sword of Divine Light to Descend the Demon Tai'a", and Master said, "This sword was passed down to me by my master Donghua Emperor Jun, and I will now hand it over to you." Master also taught Lü Dongbin how to use this sword.
Master said to Lü Dongbin, when you go down the mountain to be a man, you must promise me three conditions: "First, don't fight with the monk; second, don't lose the sword; when the third and third-year deadlines arrive, you will get someone back, and if you don't have a degree, you will return." After Listening, Lü Dongbin also agreed to the three conditions put forward by Master.
Lü Dongbin bid farewell to master and went down the mountain to meet people.
In the first year of leaving Zhongnan Mountain, there was no degree to one person; in the second year, there was no degree to one person.
Seeing that the three-year deadline was about to expire, and he had not yet reached one person, Lu Dongbin was very upset in his heart.
One day, when Lü Dongbin saw that there was Qingqi under the Huanglong Mountain in Huangzhou, the boundary of Jiangxi Province, on the top of the Tai Void, he summoned the mountain god, who told him: "There is a Fu Taigong here, whose legal name is Yongshan, who has accumulated yin virtue and done good deeds for generations, and only then will there be Qingqi." ”
Lü Dongbin ran straight to the door of the Fu family to ask for fasting, saying: "Increase happiness by making friends and develop the Daoist heart." Fu Taigong said, "We monks do not fast." Lü Dongbin said: "Confucianism and Taoism have always been one." Fu Taigong said, "I just don't respect Taoists, and you Taoists lie too much." ”
Lü Dongbin said, "You say that my Taoists are lying, so what strange merits do you Buddhist monks have?" Fu Taigong said: "Master Huinan, the Elder of huanglong temple in Huanglong Mountain, preached the scriptures, pudu sentient beings, and people were like rain, and those who listened to the scriptures and heard the Fa under the Dharma throne were not only thousands of people every day, but all rejoiced."
When Lü Dongbin heard this, he couldn't help but get angry from the bottom of his heart, so he asked, "Is this monk preaching the scriptures today?" Fu Taigong said, "There is no stopping in all seasons of the year, let alone today?" ”
Lü Dongbin went straight to the Huanglong Mountain, and the Huanglong Elder was just about to preach the scriptures, when suddenly a burst of green qi crashed into the Dharma Throne, and the Elder thought in his heart, "The magic obstacle has arrived." He said to the public, "I will not preach the scriptures today." ”
Only to see Lü Dongbin come to the Fa seat of the Yellow Dragon Elder, the Yellow Dragon Elder grabbed Lü Dongbin, picked up the ring ruler, and punched Lü Dongbin's head with a knot, and everyone below cheered in unison.
Elder Huanglong said to the crowd, "Tonight, Lu Dongbin wants to fly a sword to slay the old monk, I have divine powers, I can hide from them, you have small divine powers, you must be careful." ”
Elder Huanglong then said, "Monks, you must close the doors and windows and do not light the lamps and candles." Everyone wrapped their headscarves and hats can escape tonight. ”
When Elder Huanglong said this, the bold earth stayed in the temple, and the timid ones left.
Lu Dongbin sat in the cave, thinking in his heart, the three-year deadline is coming, he has not lived alone, the more he thinks in his heart, the more angry he is, today he was beaten by the monk, today there is him without me, there is me without him.
Lü Dongbin thought of this, took out the sword, and there were words in his mouth, only to see the sword transform into a green dragon and go straight to the Yellow Dragon Temple, Lü Dongbin waited all night, and did not see the sword return, he recited the spell of retrieving the sword more than three thousand times, and still did not see the trace of the sword.
Lü Dongbin ran to the Huanglong Temple and went straight to the abbot's zen room, only to see that the zen room was lit with two bright and dangling red candles, and the incense burner was full of smoke. Elder Huang long sat on the Zen bed, and he said loudly to Lü Dongbin, "Your sword, here, come in and get it." ”
Lü Dongbin followed the direction of Elder Huanglong's finger and saw that the sword was half inserted in the mud, so Lü Dongbin went to draw the sword, but he couldn't pull it out; he quickly recited the sword drawing incantation, who knew that the more he read it, the more firmly he could not pull it out.
Lü Dongbin said to Elder Huanglong, "Monk, return my sword." Elder Huanglong said, "I have four mantras: 'Dan is at the tip of the sword, and the sword is in Dan's heart.' If one knows this cause, he will be freed from reincarnation and death. 'If you can penetrate, I will return the sword to you.' ”
At this time, Elder Huanglong summoned his own Protector God and asked him to escort Lü Dongbin into the Trapped Demon Rock, and said to the Protector God, "Wait until he understands the Zen Machine, and then let him come to see me." ”
Lü Dongbin was trapped in the Trapped Demon Rock, and this Tianshan God told him that the Protector God was not there, so he asked Lü Dongbin to leave quickly.
Lü Dongbin returned to Zhongnan Mountain, met with Master, and told Master about the matter with Elder Huanglong, hoping that Master would be able to rescue him.
Master said, "I have repeatedly told you not to provoke the monk, the knots on your head have not subsided, and your skills are still shallow, so how can you fight others?" I will write a letter to Elder Huanglong, and you will give it to him, and he will naturally return the sword to you after reading it. ”
Lü Dongbin took the letter, quickly ran back to the Huanglong Temple to see the elder, clapped his hands together, and presented the letter to the elder with both hands. The elder took it apart and wrote four verses of praise: "Dan is only a sword, the sword is only Dan, the sword knows Dan, and the Dan knows the sword." ”
Elder Huanglong read the letter and said, "Look at your master's face, you will take the sword back", this time Lü Dongbin could gently pull the sword up.
Elder Huanglong said, "Will you worship me as your teacher, and I will preach to you?" Lü Dongbin said, "I am willing to take refuge in my Buddha." Elder Huanglong said, "I will preach to you now." Lü Dongbin listened to elder Huang Long's preaching and realized it.
Lü Dongbin thanked Master Huanglong and went directly back to Zhong Nanshan, met master, and returned the sword. From then on, we will define and cultivate the True Path, and we will not go down the mountain for hundreds of years.
Later generations have a poem: In the eight hundred autumns of the Tao, he did not fly a sword to take a person's head. The Jade Emperor did not have a heavenly rune, and the goods were mixed with the world.
