Compared with the crowded and bustling modern neighborhoods, the quaint alleys with human touch in Xi'an city seem to be more exciting. One afternoon in the cold winter, the reporter walked through Xushimiao Street, which is close to Lianhu Road, and stepped into the time that belonged to the door of the teaching field, mixed with the quaint charm of vicissitudes and aura.
Many of Xi'an's old streets are named for their proximity to important buildings, such as gongyuan gate, Xiwu Garden, Yaowang Cave, etc. What is the unique past behind the chic "teaching field gate"?
The teaching field gate is located on the south side of the middle section of Lianhu Road, which is in an east-west direction as a whole, from the west entrance of Hongbu Street in the east to the south entrance of Laowu Lane in the west, and the alley with a length of about 300 meters meanders and winds. According to relevant records, the Ming Dynasty built a martial arts teaching field here, and after Li Zicheng invaded Xi'an at the end of the Ming Dynasty, he took Xi'an as the capital of the country and established the Great Shun Dynasty, where he personally trained soldiers and reviewed the army. The Qing Dynasty continued the system of the Ming Dynasty, and built the "Fubiao Teaching Field" here, which was specially used for the Exercise of the Green Camp Army under the jurisdiction of the Inspector of Shaanxi, which was far away from the Eight Flags Teaching Field in Xi'an Mancheng. As a result, the street outside the teaching field gradually had the title of teaching field gate. In the Republic of China period, the Qing "Fubiao Teaching Field" was still the seat of military institutions, and after the founding of New China, it was mostly used by schools.
However, the most unique and colorful stroke in the past life of the teaching field gate was left by a large locust tree. This big locust tree is the origin marker of the birth of Xi'an City, before the Sui Dynasty first built Chang'an City, the area near the Teaching Field Gate was Yangxing Village, and this locust tree was the symbol of Yangxing Village. Later, Yangxing Village became the location of the Chengtian Gate between Miyagi And the Imperial City, and this ancient locust tree in Yangxing Village happened to be located on the first horizontal street of the Imperial City. Ge Hui wrote in the book "Xi'an Toponymic Culture" that the Old Book of Tang and the Five Elements Records recorded that after the Sui Dynasty built Daxing City, when planting locust trees in the first horizontal street of the imperial city, there was an old locust tree on the west side of the original Yangxing Village that was not in line with the newly planted locust trees, and the competent officials were ready to cut down this ancient locust tree. In the Tang Dynasty, Tang Taizong Li Shimin also paid great attention to the protection of the buildings left by the Sui capital, and it is said that Li Shimin heard that his subordinate officials wanted to cut down the ancient locust that Emperor Wendi of Sui had kept on the road, and he ordered that this ancient locust must be protected, but changed the name of Yangxing Village to Tangxing Village. This ancient locust tree has been preserved through the Sui and Tang dynasties, and was somehow cut down during the Republic of China.
In addition, the "Continuation of the Two Counties of Xianning and Chang'an" compiled during the Republic of China years records that outside the north gate of Guangbeicang (present-day Xicang) "there is an ancient locust plant, and the high four Zhanggenwei are also Zhangyu, and archaeologists call it Sui Huai, and there are inscriptions." "Because the farmers who built Daxing City and moved out of the village took this tree as the symbol of their hometown, a large iron incense burner under the tree burned incense to worship the ancestors, this area was named Iron Furnace Workshop, and the ancient name of the teaching field door was "Iron Furnace Four Fangs".
Soldiers are not skilled and cannot be enemies. For a long time, the door of the teaching hall echoed every day with the metallic sound of weapons colliding when the soldiers were practicing hard. With the passage of time, the scene of arrows flying horses is no longer there, leaving only the lively and simple old street charm and the ordinary life of peace and harmony. "Where there are still bad people on the street now, we are living with peace of mind." We have a small shop in our house, and I often sit at the door of the store and chat with acquaintances in the neighborhood, not to mention how comfortable I am. Grandma He, who is in her 70s, said.
Mixed in the modern city made of reinforced concrete, the teaching field is full of lively and simple city life. Fresh and rich, inexpensive vegetable and fruit shops to take on the needs of nearby residents for three meals, low-key and introverted but because of the long history and traditional practices of the wonton shops have made countless old food mouths blessed... Due to the proximity to The West Warehouse, which coincides with the opening day of the market, the teaching field gate is much busier than usual. Ms. Yang, who lives in a nearby residential building, told reporters that in addition to the staggered stalls, many people also chose to cross the door of the teaching field from Xushimiao Street and enter the West Warehouse, which attracted a lot of popularity here.
The bricks and tiles of the quaint streets and old alleys, the rafters of a house and a rafter, all flow with the flow of history, deducing the heavy texture of the ancient capital. The city also has many alleys like teaching grounds, waiting for you to discover and appreciate and savor.
