Tianchang "manna cake" has become a tribute to the imperial court since the Qing Dynasty with its characteristics of "good color, fragrance, shape and unique flavor". According to legend, during the Light Years of the Qing Dynasty, Dai Lanfen presented it to the court as a tribute and won high praise, so it was renamed "Tribute Nectar Cake". The nectar cake is beautiful in shape, white as jade, and the layers are like blooming white peony flowers. In 1982, it was rated as a national high-quality famous traditional pastry.
The production process of manna cake is complex. First, the fine white flour is added with sugar and water and mixed well into a puff pastry as thin as a piece of paper, and then folded in nine layers according to a certain shape, and the pan is fried on a low heat, and the puff pastry is bloomed layer by layer, just like the hibiscus out of the water, the blooming peony. After leaving the pan, sprinkle with "frost powder" made of glutinous rice flour and white cotton sugar, and then decorate with green plum red silk.
In 2017, the manna cake making technique was identified as an item on the list of intangible cultural heritage in Anhui Province.
