The Wangjiaba Gate is an important water conservancy hub project in the middle and upper reaches of the Huai River, and is known as the "First Gate of the Qianli Huai River". Since its completion in 1953, the Wangjiaba Gate has been opened 16 times in 13 years to store floodwater, with a total of 7.5 billion cubic meters of flood storage, which has played an important role in flood prevention and flood control in the Huai River Basin.

A few days ago, the adjustment of the flood area and the river improvement project of the Wangjiaba to Linhuaigang section of the main stream of the Huai River officially started construction. The project is one of the 172 major water conservancy projects in the country that save water supply, and the main construction contents include river dredging, embankment reinforcement, revetment and impact treatment projects.

At about 8:30 on July 20, 2020, the Wangjiaba Gate was opened for the 16th time to discharge floodwater, and the gate was closed at 13:00 on the 23rd, stopping the flood to the Mengwa Flood Storage Area, and the cumulative flood inflow of the Mengwa Flood Storage Area was 375 million cubic meters.

Due to the excellent water environment and advanced planting technology, the mustard produced by Laoguan township is large, thin shell, delicious taste, and high medicinal value, which has brought huge economic benefits to Laoguan township.

"Qi Shi has become our 'golden key' to poverty alleviation." At the same time, due to the good local water environment, the output of the mustard is large, thin shell, delicious, high medicinal value, the mustard fruit processed into rice kernels, which is quite popular in the market, and some products are also exported to Japan and South Korea and other countries. At present, the planting area of Laoguanxiang Qishi has reached more than 20,000 mu, forming an industrial chain integrating planting, picking, processing, storage and sales.

In Xitianpo Zhuangtai, Limin Village, Caoji Town, Funan County, villagers are taking advantage of the unique resource advantages of Mengwa Zhuangtai to actively plan the tourism industry, open farms, develop tourism resources, develop picking gardens, fishing centers, etc., and build a tourist Zhuangtai.

At the end of June 2021, the Wangjiaba Flood Resistance Memorial Hall was completed, which comprehensively displayed the glorious course of Huaihe River governance, flood prevention and rescue, production self-help, leadership care and the era value and scientific connotation of the Wangjiaba spirit through the exhibition of more than 2,000 photos, documents, objects, images, sculptures and other materials.
