Manzhouli, 5 Jul (Xinhua) -- Manzhouli Customs said on 5 July that the trade value of sodium glutamate exported by the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the first five months of this year was 1.16 billion yuan, an increase of 4.1% year-on-year.

Sodium glutamate is a salt formed by sodium ions and glutamate root ions, which is the main component of monosodium glutamate, a commonly used seasoning in life. The largest proportion of sodium glutamate production costs is corn and energy, while the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region corn processing sodium glutamate industry chain is mature, raw material transportation is convenient, low electricity costs and other advantages to promote the continuous growth of sodium glutamate production, export value has accounted for two-thirds of the total national export value.

According to official sources, with the advancement of energy conservation and emission reduction work, the industry has basically completed the integration of production capacity, and the top three enterprises in terms of production capacity are Fufeng Group, Meihua Biological and Yipin Biological, and have set up factories in Inner Mongolia.

For the export of sodium glutamate trade value of 1.16 billion yuan in the first five months, the reasons given by the customs are related to the current corn price.

Customs analysis said that in recent years, China's corn prices have been in an upward channel. According to the analysis of the corn supply and demand situation in May 2021 released by the Ministry of Rural Agriculture of China, in 2021/2022, China's corn planting area increased by 3.4%, or further improved the supply of raw materials for sodium glutamate-related products and reduced raw material costs.
