According to the information released on March 22 by the WeChat public account "China Development Forum" of the China Development Research Foundation, the "China Development Forum 2018 Annual Meeting • List of Major Representatives of the Chinese Side" shows that Chen Jin, former deputy director of the Central Literature Research Office, has assumed the position of councilor (vice minister) of the newly established Central Academy of Party History and Documentation.
According to the official resume, Chen Jin was born in October 1958, a native of Jianyang, Sichuan, a member of the Communist Party of China, a graduate degree, a master's degree, a researcher, and served as the deputy director of the Literature Research Office of the CPC Central Committee before deepening the reform of the party and state institutions, and the vice president of the Chinese Communist Party Literature Research Association.
According to Xinhua News Agency on March 21, the CPC Central Committee recently issued the "Plan for Deepening the Reform of Party and State Institutions" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan").
The "Plan" said that the Central Institute of Party History and Literature should be established. Party history and documentation work is an important component part of the party's cause and has an irreplaceable important position and role in the overall situation of the work of the party and the state. In order to strengthen the party's historical and theoretical research, coordinate the resources and forces of party history research, document editing and compilation of works, build a comprehensive system of party theoretical research, promote the combination of the party's theoretical research and the party's practical research, create a high-end platform for the party's historical and theoretical research, integrate the responsibilities of the Central Party History Research Office, the Central Literature Research Office, and the Central Compilation Bureau, and establish the Central Party History and Documentation Research Institute as a public institution directly under the Party Central Committee. The Central Institute of Party History and Literature retains the brand of the Central Compilation Bureau.
The main responsibilities of the Central Institute of Party History and Documentation are to study the basic theory of Marxism, the sinification of Marxism and its main representative figures, to study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to study the history of the Communist Party of China, to edit and compile important documents of Marxist classic writers, important documents of the Party and the state, and works of major leaders, and to collect and sort out important party history documents.
According to the "Plan", the Central Party History Research Office, the Central Literature Research Office, and the Central Compilation Bureau will no longer be retained.
