Japanese star show "IQ": The first large-scale outbreak of the new crown in China was because Chinese families did not have refrigerators

According to the Oriental New News, Westerners' prejudice against China is due both to the arrogance peculiar to developed countries and because they do not or are unwilling to seriously understand China. Many people's impression of China is still stuck in a long time, and even the media itself, which is supposed to help the people update their cognition, has not done their homework.

The well-known Japanese artist Takeda Tetsuya recently talked about the new crown epidemic on a radio program, in which he not only insisted that the new crown epidemic originated in Wuhan, but also carefully analyzed that "the reason for the emergence of the virus in China is that there is no refrigerator in the homes of ordinary Chinese people."

As an artist, the 71-year-old Takeda Tetsuya is indeed excellent, and the actor, lyricist, singing, and director can be described as proficient in everything. He has starred in many popular film and television dramas such as "Happy Yellow Handkerchief", "3 Years Group B Mr. Jinba", "The Call of the Distant Mountains", and many Chinese audiences are most familiar with "101 Marriage Proposals", and the "obsessive male" role he played in the play has left a deep impression.

But for the coronavirus, which humans still know very little about, Takeda Tetsuya is clearly an outsider.

The Japanese edition of the news blog site Huffington Post reported on March 2 that Takeda Tetsuya talked about the covid-19 pandemic while attending a Japanese radio station called "Cultural Broadcasting" in the morning.

The radio program said in the topic introduction: It has been one year since the new crown epidemic first appeared, but there has been no large-scale investigation into the origin of the virus. The Chinese government believes that although China was the first to detect the epidemic, the source of the virus is not necessarily in China, so it refuses to accept external investigation. This poses a huge obstacle to people's perception of the new crown virus.

Then, Takeda Said in his initial speech: There is no doubt that (the new crown virus) is from China, it is worth noting that the next time the virus will still come out of China, there will be another "new crown". In that sense, when will our show talk about the origin of the virus again. I am Takeda Tetsuya, and now I am learning about COVID-19 (related knowledge).

Takeda Tetsuya then said to another host of the show, Kana Mizutani: "What do you think is the most important question, why does the virus appear in China?" There is another problem for China.

Kanai Mizutani echoed: Is it a health issue?

Takeda Replied: It can also be said that it is a hygiene problem because they do not have a refrigerator.

Mizutani Kanai asked slightly shocked: "Doesn't the seafood market (in Wuhan) have a refrigerator?"

Takeda Tetsuya said: No, no, it is an ordinary family in China. So China sells live chickens and live fish. Japanese people have refrigerators, and there may be some refrigerators in Chinese wet markets, but the average family does not have a refrigerator that can freeze meat, so the market will sell live animals. For example, turtles, snakes, pangolins, armadillos, bats and the like. So the problem in Wuhan may be related to hygiene, but the fact that the people do not have refrigerators allows us to re-understand the new crown problem, which is what I am learning to recognize now.

After saying this, Takeda, seemingly trying to emphasize the credibility of his views, added, "I sometimes read strange books and then throw them away."

The Japanese edition of the Huffington Post reported that the show and Takeda's message were wrong in several ways.

First, China has not refused to allow outside agencies to travel to China to conduct investigations into the origin of the coronavirus. In fact, experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted a survey in China, including Wuhan, for about 2 weeks. Although there are public opinions that have doubts about the method and content of the investigation, it is clearly inconsistent with the facts to say that China refuses to conduct external investigations.

Secondly, refrigerators have become popular in the average household in China. The report quoted a report released in September 2020 by the Institute of Integrated Finance, a think tank of the Japanese Ministry of Finance, as saying that as of 2017, China's urban refrigerator penetration rate was 98%, and the rural refrigerator penetration rate was 91.7%. The latest data from the China Statistical Yearbook also shows that in 2019, the penetration rate of refrigerators in China's cities and towns reached 102.5%, and in rural areas, it was 98.6%.

The Japanese edition of the Huffington Post then conducted an interview with the production leader of the above-mentioned radio station, and the reply was: Regarding the part of "China refuses external investigation", the program uses expressions that may be misunderstood by listeners, and the program team is reflecting on this and will use more accurate expressions in the future.

As for Takeda Tetsuya's speech, the person in charge said, "Where the guests are not thoughtful in their free discussions, they will be conveyed to the program production staff and the guests, so that everyone can use a more accurate expression."

Takeda Saya said that these conclusions were the result of his "study", but apparently he did not seem to have found good study materials, and it seems that he did read a lot of "strange books". Of course, if Takeda Tetsuya is willing, Chinese should welcome him to China to take a look and update his understanding of China.
