"If we talk about the relationship between treasures and cities,
I think that the connection of people is the most important.
There are treasures in many places,
How do these people care about the region they live in?
That's the real treasure. ”
_
Recently, there have been two very popular programs related to national treasures, CCTV's "National Treasures" and "If National Treasures Can Talk", which have pulled many post-90s and even post-zero zeros into national treasure fans.
Dai Zhongren, a well-known media person in the promotion and appreciation of Taiwan's national treasures, is very appreciative, and he believes that the content and text expression of such programs break the convention and the imagination of ordinary people, and it is also the most interesting presentation of the confession of the treasures who have traveled through thousands of years in the Internet age. As a veteran Taiwanese media worker, Dai Zhongren has been active on the TV screen, since the late 1990s, is the anchor of Taiwan Television, at the end of 2006, he broadcast the "Zhongtian Evening News" on Zhongtian News Station, famous for hosting "National Treasure Archives", and spread a British national treasure column - Antiques Roadshow (Antique Road) back to the Chinese world, which is the world's oldest treasure hunting program.
When interviewing Mr. Dai Zhongren, the Taiwan editorial team of Erkan for the first time, he said: The story of treasure, that is, the story of human development, is the essence of civilization, witnesses the development of the city, participates in the evolution of history, and it can be said that the treasure is the memory of the city.
Each treasure is a dialogue of history and culture
Every city is an iteration of civilization from generation to generation

"There are treasures in many places, and how these people care about the area where they live, that is the real treasure."
First Encounter erKan: How do you see treasures in relation to cities, history and people?
Dai Zhongren: The relationship between treasure and the city, the connection between people is the most important, it is the creation of memory, not necessarily the existence of hard body relations, there are treasures in many places, how these people care about the area where they live, that is the real treasure.
Humans forget things faster than they remember them. But cultural accumulation is not easy, rapid economic development has led to a lot of destruction, it is a pity, many cultures and civilizations in the past, need time to accumulate, especially the destruction of buildings with historical value, or precious components of memory, is very sad.
During the Chinese New Year this year, an incident occurred in Taiyuan, Hsinchu, Taiwan, which made me feel very sad. The Cultural Affairs Bureau was ready to survey the current situation after the End of the Year and include it as a monument, but future generations actually set out to demolish the old house at five or six o'clock in the morning of Chinese New Year's Eve, because they wanted to sell the land to the builders to build houses.
First sight of ErKan: This raises the issue of the fusion of the "old" of the city and the "new" of the times, what do you think is the way to balance it?
Dai Zhongren: Some people think that Taipei is very old, but the old Taipei is our common memory. In Taiwan there is the concept of urban treasures, treasures can be maintained, not necessarily new buildings. New York, like Taipei, is a lot of places old, and in terms of urban treasures, the old is the memory of many common cultures.
First sight ErKan: Architecture is the hard cultural memory of the city, and the artworks representing the city all over the world are the object of everyone's attention. In your opinion, in some of the most representative cultural cities around the world, what are the more well-known and representative works of art they have?
Dai Zhongren: I think it is worth mentioning, the first to promote the Statue of Liberty. This landmark not only belongs to the United States itself, but also to the whole world.
The Statue of Liberty is a memorable international city. You will find that The Statue of Liberty represents the spiritual distance between people and people, and it may not be that far. But ironically, but far away. Because the Statue of Liberty was given to the Americans by the French, the United States was responsible for the construction of the pedestal, but at that time the United States had no money, they launched a small donation, and 120,000 people participated in the donation.
Someone threw five cents to donate, so that the United States had the money to build that pedestal. At first, the Americans themselves did not pay attention to it, and after the cover was completed, the Americans realized that it should be up to them to maintain it. Many people think and debate, and it becomes their common memory. But the Statue of Liberty is in the standard Greek style, which also shows the national character of the American melting pot. No one would think that this Greek-style statue would be a misfit over there. Culture still has commonalities.
But after 911 happened, the distance between people and people opened up again, and people's fears began to open up again, because the relationship of fear, love and care are basic values, and many people's feelings are linked together. The Statue of Liberty in New York represents the people of the 21st century, and there are many contradictions in the place, not only in the United States, but also in many contradictions in the world.
First Encounter with ErKan: Which treasure has amazed you the most so far?
Dai Zhongren: In 1992, when I first went to the David Foundation at the University of London, I was terrified, in a small house, I did not expect that an old British gentleman actually had such a rich collection of Chinese porcelain, more than the original British Museum collection (and later donated to the British Museum because it could not be maintained).
He had seven bowls in the Ru kiln alone. In the early years of the Republic of China, David bought back a pair of vases, and it was not until the late 1960s that he studied it and found that it was written on it for the eleventh year. He had the vision to buy it back decades ago, and because of the relationship between the vases, we have a complete understanding of blue and white porcelain.
First time I saw ErKan: This foreigner's vision is really unique!
Dai Zhongren: After I deeply understood, I understood that this is not accidental. Because he had visited many kiln factories, he liked it and had the heart to discover it. I remember when I first went to the David Foundation, some very important kilns were displayed like they were in a grocery store, but opening the cupboards and seeing any piece of porcelain from his collection was first-rate.
So, the David Foundation is one of the places that haunts my dreams the most. When foreigners attach so much importance to it, when foreigners spend their energy to discover, learn, and study Chinese culture, what kind of attitude should we have toward our own treasures? I think these can awaken our inner reflection.
First Sight ErKan: What do you think of the treasures of the Palace Museum in Beijing and the Palace Museum in Taipei?
Dai Zhongren: Many people are very familiar with the jade cabbage and pork stone of the National Palace in Taipei. There are a group of people who think that in terms of artistry, these two pieces are not national treasures, and I agree. But the vast majority of tourists don't have that much time and don't necessarily have that high artistic attainment, so I think these two pieces are also good and attractive stepping stones.
The Forbidden City in Beijing, importantly, in the whole environment, has faithfully preserved the historical buildings from the beginning of the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, so the emperor's way of life there, and the things used by the entire harem people in the past, are displayed in it, which is an original restoration. Each has its own characteristics. All worth seeing!
"Terracotta warriors symbolize oriental culture,
An important origin of Chinese culture"
First sight erkan: the national treasure of this life has been gradually recognized by the market, the display of the national treasure of the East in the West has been followed and warmly welcomed by culture, and last December, the Terracotta Army was secretly broken off by the Americans and taken home to collect, what is your opinion on this matter?
Dai Zhongren: In February this year, the Terracotta Warriors and Horses were re-exhibited at the Liverpool World Museum after a gap of twelve years, which was very sensational. And the incident of breaking a finger last January was at the Franklin Cultural Center in Philadelphia, USA, proving that the Terracotta Warriors are running around the world and are popular all over the world.
In the United States terracotta fingers were cut off is an unfortunate thing. That young man is going to be in trouble now, and this is a very serious crime in the United States, and because of the transcontinental, the federal law is broken. After the incident, it caused the anger of many people in China, and the official statement demanded that the United States pursue responsibility and demand compensation. ”
First time ErKan: Can you tell us about a national treasure about the Terracotta Warriors?
Dai Zhongren: We now see that the Terracotta Army is not what it was originally, and if it returns to its original appearance, you will not be used to it. When the terracotta warriors were unearthed, they were colorful and colorful, but within 15 seconds, the color was oxidized, and after a few minutes, it peeled off into the condition we see now.
How to protect the Terracotta Army when it is found, its color can still be preserved, requires a lot of scientific and technological investment. There have been small breakthroughs so far, but they have not been completely successful, and in the future we may see colorful terracotta warriors.
But once, in a german museum, once German scientists restored the colorful colors of the terracotta warriors, and as a result, when the exhibition was held in Berlin, Germany, many Germans reacted that they were not accustomed to such terracotta warriors, but did not like it.
The Terracotta Warriors, like the pyramids, are loved all over the world for their mysterious nature. Just as the Egyptian pyramids have a longer history and symbolize the origin of culture, the Terracotta Warriors symbolize the origin of Oriental culture and Chinese culture.
First encounter with ErKan: A lot of people say that collecting is a pit, what do you think about this?
Dai Zhongren: It's very interesting, many people who think that they are treasures, often things are not valuable. Often many have no concept, think it is not good, and the result is useful. It's very interesting and ironic.
One man, his mother asked him to try on the paintings from home. This family has no concept at all, and has no habit of collecting. Their family had paintings left by their former elders, and when they took them to the auction company, as soon as they spread them out, the boss said, "We can ask for this painting." Just tell him that the painting is left behind. This can be sold. He was hesitant: Is it really worth the money? The boss said, I will pay you a deposit first, NT$20 million, and scare the person stupid!
There is also the most interesting, the result is really sold, in fact, there are several pieces, including Qi Baishi's paintings, sold for 100 million to give money. The head of the auction company was my friend. It just so happens that someone buys a painting and has 100 million yuan in cash, which can be transferred to the collector of the painting. The 100 million yuan was packed in a fruit carton, to be deposited in the bank, the first bank saw that the fruit box had 100 million yuan, did not dare to collect. Changed the second one to order the collection. Holding the money of 100 million in the fruit box, if it can be made into a movie, it is quite interesting.
Dai Zhongren's Taiwan Zhi Brigade
Mr. Dai Zhongren is very enthusiastic about the readers of Hatsumi, and understands that Hatsumi Ishito is building a platform for Zhilu, and specially recommends two Zhilu routes.
Route A: Ancient taste
The old north gate of Taipei City on Zhongxiao West Road, the former viaduct, and now coming back, are suddenly cheerful, (because the viaduct has been demolished) Although it is an inconspicuous place, this city gate has something to consider.
The North Gate can be preserved, which is also an accident in history. The city gates built in the tenth year of Guangxu are carrying many different memories of history, the ancestors have walked, and the development of foreign ethnic groups.
Walk through the city gate, walk to Tacheng Street and walk straight to Dihua Street, slowly walk to see the long cloister building, standard Fujian-style building, red brick colonnade, it has a Taiwanese flavor. Take a walk to find a walk from the modern Taipei City to the traditional Chinese world, and there is a strong Taiwanese flavor.
Especially during the New Year, the industrial and commercial activities of more than a hundred years ago are interdependent, and the best portrayal is there. The most prosperous cloth market, until now, some people say that this may be the place with the most cash in Taiwan.
Route B: Auction Season
I think that the average mainland friend, if you have enough time, you may wish to spend time in Taiwan's auction concentration, on the one hand, come to Taiwan to play, on the other hand, you can go to Taiwan's auction company to walk around, you can also buy. Because the relative price of art auctioned in Taiwan is cheaper than that in the mainland, sometimes it may be a multiple difference.
Therefore, I think that the average mainland tourist can change their mentality and way to travel to Taiwan, visit taiwan's attractions, and participate in the auctions of several auction companies in Taiwan in a few days. Pick your favorite artwork. Look at personal preferences and research. The time of the Taiwan auction is from March to April, July to August, and then at the end of the year, from November to December.
