Qilu Network Lightning News, September 24, 2019 This morning, the fourth China Enterprise Forum held a theme forum. With the theme of "Chinese Enterprises under the New Development Pattern: Mission and Path", the forum focused on the responsibilities and missions, opportunities and challenges, programs and paths of Chinese enterprises under the strategic overall situation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the great changes in the world in a hundred years, broadened the horizon of the world, gathered the voices of the world, empowered the new development pattern, helped high-quality development, and jointly sought a new development path for global enterprises. At the forum, Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, gave a video presentation.
Klaus Schwab argues that at a time when the world is facing profound change, we have six special challenges ahead of us that require us to address them in a relevant way.
First, prosperity must continue to be created. Ensure that everyone in the world today has more opportunities and ensure that there is a high standard of life for everyone. And the main driver to ensure that everyone can enjoy a happy life is the enterprise, because the enterprise is the driver and creator of prosperity.
Secondly, sustainability must be ensured. Sustainability is an important issue today, and climate change is probably the biggest threat facing humanity. We must act together. We must reduce carbon emissions worldwide as soon as possible and be carbon-neutral and economical. I am particularly pleased to see that China not only recognizes this challenge and obligation, but is more prepared to play a leading role. At the same time, we must also return to nature-based solutions. For example, the World Economic Forum's Trillion Tree Planting Program, which expects to plant one trillion trees over the next 10 years. In addition, sustainable development and climate change are not only about carbon reduction and natural restoration, but also need to ensure that agriculture becomes more sustainable. To do this, we can even change our lifestyle habits and create a circular economy.
Thirdly, inclusiveness must be enhanced. At the national level, the great task before us is to re-develop and upgrade the skills of workers to ensure that they are fit for the jobs they need in the future. At the same time, the necessary infrastructure must be ensured. In particular, China's ongoing Belt and Road Initiative ensures that China's high-quality infrastructure can be shared with neighboring countries and neighboring regions.
Fourthly, resilience must be strengthened. Our experience of being forced to fight COVID-19 is still vivid, but it's only one of the risks we have to develop creative resilience. It also ensures that the supply chain is resilient to risks.
Fifth, innovation must be promoted, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution is in full swing. Technology needs to be dominated by humans and used by people to really help us make progress.
Sixthly, cooperation must be enhanced. The World Economic Forum is committed to strengthening cooperation worldwide, including among different stakeholders in the international community. Therefore, the World Economic Forum hopes that through this platform, in the spirit of real responsibility, it will bring together aspirants.
