Share the biographical stories of historical figures and experience the centenary of life: famous in the world - Xu Shao

At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the world was full of talents, the royal family was declining day by day, and the dark tide was surging everywhere. The time is coming of chaos, and it is the time when talents and talents can emerge. If you want to show your talents, you must first have a reputation. Only when Lide manifests can it be recognized by the imperial court and all forces, recruited, and get the opportunity for development.

Among the talents and heroes in various places, there is a person who is highly sought after by the majority of scholars, celebrities and sages, and many people like to ask him to let him evaluate himself. Because anyone who gets his evaluation, as long as it is a praise, will soon be recognized by more people.

This popular critic is Xu Shao.

Shào (c. 150 – c. 195), courtesy name Zi Jiang. A native of Pingyu, Runan (present-day Sheqiao Town, Pingyu County, Henan). Critic of famous figures at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is said that he had to conduct a tasting of the people at that time once a month, known as the "Moon Dan Review".

Like the well-known Cao Cao's comment that "the capable minister who governs the world, the adulterous male of the chaotic world" comes from his mouth. When Cao Cao was not famous, Qiao Xuan once persuaded Cao Cao to visit Xu Shao, so Cao Cao repeatedly asked him to evaluate himself, but Xu Shao refused, and later Cao Cao threatened Xu Shao, and Xu Shao said the evaluation of "Jun Qingping's capable subject, hero of the chaotic world", and this sentence is very accurate. It can be seen that Xu Shaoguan is the quasi-person and the god of judgment.

Xu Shao had a reputation at a young age, had discipline, and was expected by the audience. I like to judge the characters and appreciate many people. For example, Fan Zizhao and Heqia were famous at that time.

Xu Shao initially served as Gong Cao of the county, and was the chief assistant of the county sheriff and the county order. Supervisors examine and record performance. Taishou Xu Xuan respected him very much. At that time, the local government heard that Xu Shao was a meritorious Cao, and there was no one who did not change his conduct and was cautious in his words and deeds.

Yuan Shao, who was in the same county as Xu Shao, would pay attention to his words and deeds when he returned home, and since Puyang Ling left his post and returned home, the carriages and horses were crowded, very luxurious, but when he was ready to enter the territory of Runan, he sent the guests away, saying: "Can I let Xu Zijian see such a carriage and horse dress?" So he just rode home in a car.

It can be seen that Xu Shao's status and influence at that time.

Xu Shao not only has a set of standards for evaluating people, but also has his own set of standards for people in the world. He doesn't see and do things according to the world's eyes.

Xu Shao once went to Yingchuan, and the people who traveled with him were some elders with moral learning, only he did not visit Chen Yuan.

After Chen Fan's wife died, she returned to her hometown for burial, and everyone in the township went to attend the funeral, but Xu Shao did not go.

Someone asked him what the reason was, and Xu Shao said, "If the Taoism of Taiqiu (Chen Yu) is too extensive, it is difficult to be thoughtful; Zhongju (Chen Fan) has a severe temperament, and it is impossible to reach it if it is severe." So I don't go. Most of his characters are like this, simple and clear, direct and thorough.

Xu Shao's uncle Xu Jing, Xu Jing's son Xu Xun, and Xu Xun's son Xu Xiang all served as the Third Duke. And Xu Xiang, because he flattered the eunuchs, so he was the third duke and the marquis, he sent people to ask Xu Shao many times, Xu Shao thought that Xu Xiang had no moral behavior, and never went to see him.

Xu Shao's fellow county man, Li Kui, was upright and had noble ambitions, and Xu Shao began to make friends with him, and later the two had contradictions; Xu Shao was also at odds with his brother Xu Jing, and public opinion was dissatisfied with him. At first, Xu Shao and Xu Jing both enjoyed a high reputation, liked to comment on township party figures, and changed the topic every month, so Runan had the custom of "monthly dan commentary".

Xu Shao also has a keen insight into the current situation. Being able to clearly analyze the situation does not agree with the short term.

Later, Sikong Yang Biao recruited Xu Shao, and he was also named Fangzheng and Dunpu, and the characteristics of the imperial court should not be. Someone advised Xu Shao to become an official, and he replied: "Now that the villain has won the victory and the royal family will be in chaos, I want to take refuge in the Huainan East Sea, so as to save the old and young in the family." So south to Guangling County.

After Xu Shao arrived, Xuzhou Stabbing Shi Taoqian treated him with courtesy and was very thoughtful. But Xu Shao felt uneasy and told his protégé: "Tao Gongzu seems to be sincere and enthusiastic about people on the surface, but inside he is not real. Although he is very good to me, this situation cannot be maintained for a long time, so it is better to go. So he went to Qu'a to join Liu Sui in Yangzhou. Later, Tao Qian did indeed arrest the guests who lived in his place.

In the first year of Jian'an (195), after Sun Ce defeated Liu Sui, Xu Shao and Liu Sui fled south to Yuzhang, and eventually died there at the age of forty-six.

Xu Shao's elder brother Xu Qian (許虔) was also famous, and the Runanese said that there were two dragons in Pingyu County (referring to Xu Shao and Xu Qian).

In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Xu Shao's image is similar to that of Zhengshi. There is a reputation for discerning people's character and talents. Cao Cao went to see him and asked, "What am I?" Xu Shao did not answer. Cao Cao asked again, and Xu Shaocai said, "You are a capable ruler of the world, and a traitor to the chaotic world!" Cao Cao was overjoyed when he heard this.

Such character critics are both fortunate at the time and a stroke of luck when our descendants watch history, and celebrities like them have embellished our historical development with a shimmering brilliance.
