The construction of the Hanji-Wei water diversion project, which we are participating in, officially started in 2014, and the planning plan includes the construction of a gravity concrete dam in Jinjinxia, intercepting the flow of water from the Han River for the benefit of power generation, and transferring part of the water flow into Guanzhong from here.
In the autumn of 2015, with the help of the relevant departments in Yangxian County, we inquired and explored in various homes for the elderly, and finally found Huang Shirong, an elderly man who lived in the Yangxian Honorary Military Sanatorium for a short time.
After a short conversation, Huang Shirong was very excited to learn that the construction of the Golden Gorge Dam was about to start. On the way back to his hometown of Golden Gorge with him, the old man inquired with concern about the construction of the Hanjiwei Project, and could not hide his enthusiasm for the construction of the Golden Gorge Water Conservancy Hub Project.
Outside the town of Jinjingxia, 70 miles from the county seat, Huang Shirong, sitting in the front row of the off-road vehicle, pointed to a large tree covered with greenery on the south bank of the Han River and said, "See that big oak tree?" That's the hallmark of golden gorge. Golden Gorge is indeed a construction reservoir site, according to our understanding of the situation with the responsible comrades of the Northwest Ministry of Water Resources, we know that in the past we have sent people to investigate, can build a 50-meter-high dam, the power generation is about 100,000 horsepower. However, the development of hydropower resources on the Han River to coordinate with all aspects of industrial transportation needs to be studied in terms of time.
Regarding the introduction of water into the Han River from the upper reaches of the Jialing River, because the water volume of the Han River itself has been applied, there seems to be no need to hold it at present, but in the future, in order to communicate with Sichuan and Shaanxi shipping, your opinion is still worth considering.

Stick to your dreams for half a century
Huang Shirong was born in 1933 in Xigou Village, Jinjinxia Town, Yang County. In November 1949, at the age of 16, he graduated from a junior high school in the county town, abandoned his family's comfortable life, signed up for the People's Liberation Army, and became a glorious student soldier. In August 1952, the unit stationed in southern Shaanxi was reorganized into an oil division, and Huang Shirong went to the vast Yumen Pass in Xinjiang, put on a sheepskin coat and a dog skin hat, and became the first generation of oil workers in New China.
Huang Shirong is a very dedicated person, he loves to use his brain, study hard, and soon became the technical backbone of the petroleum master. The division headquarters sent him to Beijing to participate in the business study organized by the General Petroleum Bureau, and promoted him to be the leader of the planning group of the division and the secretary of the Communist Youth League of the organ. All the way to the spring breeze and all the way, Jin Rong finally put on the sunny road to the career.
The weather is unpredictable. In the political movement of the early 1960s, he was classified as a class dissident due to his origins, left the petroleum division in Yumen, and was transferred to Turfan for labor reform. Later, Ye fell back to his roots, and finally returned to the bank of the Han River where he was born and raised, on the slopes of the south bank of the Golden Gorge, he braved the wind and rain, married his wife and had children, and painstakingly pulled his own life.
Sitting on the big rock by the river, looking at the gushing water, the old man opened his mind and uncovered the "secret" hidden in his heart for more than half a century.
"In that era of socialist construction, we were full of enthusiasm and wanted to do something for the country." Huang Lao said: "I have lived in the Golden Gorge since I was a child, I originally had a good understanding of the topography, water energy status, natural climate, biology, sediment and other natural resources of the Golden Gorge, as a soldier, taking advantage of the convenient conditions of being a cultural instructor in the army, consulting a large number of geographical and historical materials, and observing along the Golden Gorge many times, I gradually understood the idea of building a hydroelectric power station here, and building a dam has become my lingering dream." ”
Subsequently, Huang Shirong carefully drew and calculated, wrote a set of implementation drafts for the construction of the Golden Gorge Hydropower Station, and wrote a proposal and sent it to the Ministry of Water Resources. He did not expect it, and soon received a joint reply from the Minister of Water Resources, which surprised him and was very excited.
The years are long, sweet and sour, bitter and spicy tightly accompanies him. While greeting every dawn, he is also throwing away a lot of burdens and burdens. Only the relic of his dreams— the minister's reply—the brown paper bag he held tightly in his heart, followed him through most of China, and followed him back to the tranquil golden gorge. He waited for more than 60 years, looking forward to the realization of his dream.
Heartfelt deeds can be remembered
Standing on the shore of the Golden Gorge, the waves of the Han River at your feet are rolling. Two mountains are majestically sandwiched, and a gorge is open and vast. Huang Shirong seems to be even more pleased with Han Jiwei's horse, and is proud that his dream has been realized!
The function of the Han River, the Golden Gorge Dam, has been given new content. In addition to the powerful power generation to provide kinetic energy for the Hanzhong power grid, the dam will also intercept part of the water flow of the Han River, through the nearly 100 kilometers of Qinling Tunnel, connect to Guanzhong, to achieve the common development of the province's economy, and realize the common prosperity of the north and south of the Qinling Mountains.
"Without water, people, animals, plants, nothing. The water of the Han River is too valuable, in the past we only knew that water can generate electricity, but we did not expect to be sent to Guanzhong to promote the great development of Shaanxi's economy. The water of the Han River can moisten Guanzhong, which is a very happy thing. Speaking of the Hanjiwei project, Huang Lao felt that modern builders looked farther and did more perfectly.
Huang Shirong's dream is about to come true. Golden Gorge is one of the important water sources for the Hanjiwei Project. In the second half of 2015, the pot beach of Golden Gorge roared. After years of difficult research, the geological exploration, hydrological calculus and preliminary design of the Golden Gorge hub have been completed, the road on the left bank of the dam has also been completed, the slope has begun to be processed, and the work of right bank migration and bridge construction has been started. Five years later, the dam is up and everything here will change.

In 2019, the Golden Gorge Dam on the Han River is rising day by day. I went to Yang County to visit this old man who could not be forgotten. As a historical witness to the Golden Gorge Water Conservancy Project, he should be 86 years old. Along the way, I guessed about the current situation of seeing him: still so hunched over his waist, still so unapproachable, or insisting on watching the "News Network" every day, or talking about national events, blushing and neck thick....... Disappointed, Huang Shirong has gone!
I don't know how to express my nostalgia for the old man. I only know that he must be in the last stage of his life, still silently thinking about the construction of the Golden Gorge dam, still estimating the progress of the construction of the project, and still looking forward to the grand situation of the water flowing into the Guanzhong of the Han River.
