Zhou Xin: The Japanese government and Japanese media have hyped up "taiwan has something" to hide three political goals

Recently, Okada, a senior political commentator at Japan's Kyodo News Agency, wrote an article on the "business insider" website analyzing the "political intentions" behind the Japanese government and media's recent continuous hype about "Taiwan's affairs." The main contents are as follows:

After the Biden administration took office, it used the excuse of "taiwan war is approaching" as an excuse to create tension in the region, but half a year later, scholars engaged in international political research in the United States began to question the fictitiousness of this "theory of having a problem" and called on the Biden administration to carry out political dialogue with the Chinese side for the purpose of maintaining stability in the Taiwan Strait and reaffirm the "one China" principle. In contrast, in Japan, the government and media continue to hype "Taiwan has a problem", and there are three "political purposes" hidden behind it.

The first is to build Japan into a "major participant" in the settlement of the Taiwan issue. The first Japan-U.S. "2+2" (March 2021) and joint statements issued after the Japan-U.S. Summit (April 2021) held after Biden took office both mentioned "maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait," leading Japan-U.S. security towards the "China Alliance." According to American scholars, Japan and the United States have conducted a "deduction on the map" and concluded that "if Japan does not provide rear support, the United States will lose to the Chinese side in the war to prevent the reunification of Taiwan Chinese mainland," adding confidence to the Japanese side to assume the "main responsibility" on the issue of "protecting Taiwan." The Japanese government has so far been "passive" on the Taiwan issue, and now it wants to seek a "turn" with the help of the media and public opinion.

The second is to accelerate the deployment of the Self-Defense Forces in Japan's Southwest Islands to pave the way for the future deployment of medium-range missiles by the US military in the region. Former Abe cabinet deputy chief of office for security and former nobukatsu Hara said in an april interview that "if there is something going on in Taiwan, there is something for Japan." Taiwan is only 100 kilometers away from Yonaguni Island, and in the event of a war, the southwestern islands are likely to be involved. More importantly, once there is an incident in the Taiwan Strait, it will inevitably involve the 'Senkaku Islands' (that is, my Diaoyu Islands). In recent years, the Self-Defense Forces have established bases on Yonaguni Island, Miyako Island, and Ishigaki Island in order to defend Japanese territory to the death. There is no nato-like military presence in East Asia, and the United States is trapped in internal turmoil and it is difficult to send large-scale military forces to the region. China's strategic vision for the future is to keep the U.S. military out of the first island chain, and in response, the United States is likely to deploy medium-range missiles on the southwest islands." Kanahara's statement is very clear and explicit. Suga's cabinet, with Abe's younger brother Nobuo Kishi as minister of defense, also implemented the same policy. It has been learned that Japan and the United States will revise the "Guidelines for Japan-US Security Cooperation" at the 2+2 meeting to be held this year and join the "Taiwan issue," and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party has begun to make preparations for this. The Security Act may also be amended accordingly. This is the "driving force" for Japan's involvement in the Taiwan issue.

The third is to test the red line of Beijing's "use of force." The mainland's "Anti-National Secession Law" sets three conditions for the use of force against Taiwan, and both the Democratic Progressive Party and the Kuomintang on the island believe that "the Republic of China is already an independent country and does not need to declare independence again." Therefore, the possibility of Taiwan taking the initiative to declare independence to the outside world has been reduced to "0.", and under such circumstances, Japan and the United States are very concerned about the red line of the mainland's "use of force." This is also the main motive for Japan and the United States to constantly provoke the "Taiwan issue" and test China's reaction.

Since the beginning of this year, the Japanese Government has provided vaccines to Taiwan and mentioned the "Taiwan issue" on various occasions, with the aim of using public opinion to create a "pro-Taiwan" atmosphere while stirring up "China-weary" sentiments and seeking opportunities for the realization of the above-mentioned three political intentions.

Throughout history, there have been countless "wars" that have been created, and the "9/18" incident has become the fuse for Japan to launch a war of aggression against China. In the face of the Japanese government's "China threat theory," which already lacks evidence, the opposition parties and public opinion have hardly raised any objections and allowed them to formulate foreign policy accordingly.
