The two brothers come from a family and receive the same education, but their personalities and characteristics are often different. This is a lot in our actual lives, and everyone does not feel strange.
During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the Yingchuan Zhong clan was also a large household, and there were many talents. At that time, Taifu Zhongxuan was deeply influenced by Cao Wei's new appointment and held an important position, and was a famous calligrapher and literary scholar.

He has two sons, Zhong Yu and Zhong Hui, who are also teenagers. In contrast, Zhong Hui is more famous, which may also be the root cause of the ultimate tragic ending.
"The World Speaks a New Language" has a small story of the two brothers of the Zhong family.
Zhong Yu and Zhong Hui were both prodigies, and When Emperor Wendi of Wei (Cao Pi) heard of the brothers' fame, he said to their father, Zhong Xuan, "Let your two sons come to see me." So he ordered a summons. When he met Zhong Yu, his face was sweaty, and Emperor Wen asked him, "How did you sweat on your face?" Zhong Yu replied, "The battle is trembling, and the sweat is like pulp." Then he asked Zhong Hui, "Why don't you sweat on your face?" Zhong Hui replied, "Shuddering, sweating and not daring to come out." "
Two answers, reflecting two personalities. Zhong Yu is the kind of person who is honest and responsible, speaks decently, and has a natural sense of awe. The younger brother Zhong Hui was very deep in the city government, and when he saw the emperor, he did not panic, and his answer was more methodical.
It should be noted that when Zhong Xuan died, Zhong Hui was only 5 years old, as if the time written by the world's new stories was not quite right. But instead of digging deeper, let's take a look at the two brothers' special paths.
Zhong Yu is more like his father Zhong Xuan, quick wit, but scrupulously abide by the way of the courtiers, capable and not excessive, at the age of fourteen he became a loose riding attendant. During the Reign of Cao Wei, he did his best; when Sima Shi came to power, he was loyal to Sima Shi and could be regarded as a standard professional manager, often issuing pertinent advice.
Zhong Hui's head is more active, he was about the same age as his brother when he was an official, and in various key events, he has more strategy and is more loved and relied upon by those in power.
One is good at positive thinking, trying to do a good job of persuasion, adding bricks to the stability of the regime; the other is active in thinking, known for his ingenuity, and is a sharp blade for those in power, but obviously more difficult to control.
After sima shi sima zhao and the two brothers seized power, there were still conflicts between interest groups, and there were constant rebellions in various places, and in quelling many rebellions such as Wuqiu Jian and Zhuge Zhao, the two Zhong brothers were important participants.
After Wu Qiujian and Wen Qin rebelled, Zhong Yu went to Yangzhou and Yuzhou to proclaim the holy will and admonish the people. When Zhong Hui accompanied Sima Shi to conquest Yuqiu Jian, he was a personal staff officer, knew the secret report of the imperial court, and offered advice to Sima Zhao to crush Cao Xi's attempt to seize power.
Zhong Yu knew his brother Zhong Hui very well, and it is said that he had privately warned Sima Zhao, meaning that his brother was intelligent, but he was good at playing with power, and may be ambitious, so Sima Zhao was wary. Sima Zhao laughed after hearing this, and it is estimated that he agrees with Zhong Yu's loyalty, and may also agree with Zhong Yu's judgment, and finally made a promise that Zhong Yu will be assured that in the future, there will be accidents that will not affect his own side.
A year before Zhong Hui's accident, Zhong Yu fell ill and died, and he was posthumously given the title of Che Riding General, with the nickname Huihou, which in today's parlance is a safe landing.
In the same year, Zhong Hui and Deng Ai sent troops together and launched a campaign to destroy Shu. Zhong Hui's strategy and ambitions were revealed, and he eventually became the King of Xichuan and openly rebelled against Sima Zhao.
Unfortunately, The Shu lord's ass was not yet hot, and the brothers under him did not do it, and those people did not want to abandon their wives and children to stay in Sichuan. Even if Zhong Hui would calculate again, he still underestimated everyone's determination to unify, and soon civil unrest would resume, and Zhong would die tragically, only 40 years old.
The Zhong clan was liquidated, but fortunately, Zhong Yu left a back road in front of him, his own descendants were not affected, and the younger brother's branch was completely destroyed.
Perhaps there is another little story that can explain the fate of the two brothers.
When Zhong Yu and Zhong Hui were young, they stole medicine and wine together when Zhong Yu was napping. Zhong Xuan just woke up and deliberately pretended to sleep to observe how his sons behaved. Zhong Yu only drank after the ceremony, and Zhong would only drink wine and not perform the ceremony. Then Zhong Yu asked Zhong Yu why he wanted to perform the ceremony, and Zhong Yu replied: "Wine is used to make a ceremony, do not dare not worship (wine is used to complete the ceremony, do not dare not do not perform the ceremony)" The father asked Zhong Hui why he did not perform the ceremony, and the bell would say: "Stealing is not a ceremony, so it is not a ceremonial act (stealing, it is not an act of etiquette, so there is no need to perform the ceremony)". Seeing the big in the small, I am not deceived.
