Yan Zhao Yinglie| Chen Wenbin: an excellent political work cadre who fought bravely

Chen Wenbin (1911-1940), also known as Guangjiao, was a native of Chenjiawan, Buzhuang Village, Waipi Township, Chaling County, Hunan Province. He joined the Communist Party of China in the autumn of 1930. Soon, he was appointed as a clerk in the independent battalion of Chaling County, and was later selected to serve as a clerk in the Xianggan Independent Division and the Red Army School of the Xianggan Military Region. He has been heroic in battle and has received many awards for his meritorious service. In July 1934, he was appointed as an organizational officer of the Political Department of the Sixth Red Army. In January 1935, he was appointed as the political commissar of the Fifty Regiment of the 17th Red Division and accompanied the troops on the Long March. In July 1936, he was appointed Head of Organization of the Sixth Red Army. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he was the commander of the Second Battalion of the 719th Regiment of the 359th Brigade of the 120th Division. Soon, he was appointed political commissar of the 719 regiment. In March 1938, in the fierce battle to retake the county seat of Ningwu County, he was wounded in his left arm, but still insisted on commanding the battle, annihilating more than 300 enemy troops and killing the Japanese captain Ofe Chida. In the summer of 1938, he led the 719th Regiment and one battalion into the area of Dong'anyu in Ying County, and in only half a year, 5 anti-Japanese guerrilla brigades were developed. In July of the same year, he led his troops into Jizhong and served as the political commissar of the Jinnan Anti-Japanese Self-Defense Army. In September, he led his troops to participate in the Annihilation Of Chen Zhuang. In this battle, a total of 23 light and heavy machine guns and more than 500 rifles were captured. In February 1940, he encountered the Japanese army in the village of Xizhangmeng in Guangping County, repelling 7 consecutive enemy attacks, killing more than 200 enemy troops and severely damaging the Japanese army. After the battle, when he passed through Weijiazhuang in Xinhe County on the way back to Hebei, he was strafed by enemy aircraft, unfortunately shot in the head, and died heroically at the age of 29. In September 2014, it was included in the first list of 300 famous anti-Japanese heroes and heroes.
