Yuan Ying[1924— ]

Yuan Ying, whose real name is Tian Zhongluo, is more well known than his pen name Yuan Ying. However, in the circle of acquaintances, it is more customary to call him "Lao Tian", and Wang Bisheng once wrote a large article with the title of "Lao Tian".

I grew up reading his poem "Sent to the Toms River", and I was just 10 years old and I was very excited. I have also read Yuan Ying's other poetry and prose works. His essay "Jinggang Cuizhu" was included in the language textbook, and many people had read this essay when they were in school.

Yuan Ying is a senior editor of the People's Daily, and the poems of Chairman Mao Zedong and the poems of Dong Biwu, Chen Yi, Ye Jianying, Guo Moruo, Zhao Puchu and others were published in newspapers through his hands. He has deep contacts with many leading figures in China's literary circles.

I was fortunate enough to study and work with Yuan Ying for two years, and from 1975 to 1976, I went to the People's Daily Literary and Art Department to study and help work. In particular, from September to October 1975, the newspaper sent me to follow Yuan Ying to re-walk the Long March of the Red Army, which was the first time I re-walked the Long March Road, and accompanied Yuan Ying along the way to interview, which became an unforgettable page for me. This re-departure not only allowed me to visit the living old Red Army and old shipwrights, but also gained a lot of accumulation in the history of the Chinese revolution, but also very importantly, Mr. Yuan Ying's words and deeds to me, as a well-known writer and editor, brought me a deep influence. Returning from Beijing, Yuan Ying led me to collect the materials sent back by the People's Daily reporter station and the Xinhua News Agency station along the Long March of the Red Army, condensed together with many of the materials we interviewed, and wrote a long newsletter with two pages of "The New Long March on the Long March Road." I also wrote the poem "Slogan of the Red Army", which was published in the People's Daily, and Mr. Yuan Ying wrote the essay "Deep Remembrance" and published it in the "People's Liberation Army Literature and Art".

For decades, I have had too many connections and too deep memories with Yuan Ying. After I left the newspaper office to return to the army, I often received letters from him, books sent to me, and New Year greeting cards sent every year in the name of him and his wife Wu Yunhong. In 2016, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Long March of the Red Army, Jiao Fanhong, president of Baishan Publishing House, published a hardcover long march poetry collection "Snow Burial" for me, and Yuan Ying gave me an inscription, writing: "The Long March Road on the banks of the Jinsha River inspires life to move forward forever." Sejong's old friends encouraged Yuan Ying in November 2015. ”
