DPP "legislator" Su Huanzhi quit the party to run for mayor of Taipei, saying that the Tsai authorities have disappointed people and has been in the party for 27 years

Su Huanzhi, the governor of Nan County, announced his candidacy for mayor of Taipei and announced his withdrawal from the Democratic Progressive Party.

According to Taiwan's "China Times" report on March 4, Su Huanzhi, the governor of Nan County, announced his candidacy for mayor of Taipei yesterday (3 March) and threw out a shock bomb to withdraw from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) that he has joined for 27 years and run as a non-party member. He said bluntly that after 1 year and 9 months of observation, it is disappointing to think that the Tsai Ing-wen administration has deviated from the basic route of revitalizing the economy and taking care of the weak.

According to reports, Su Huanzhi, 61, who served two terms as tainan county magistrate, three "legislators" and a lawyer, said last year that Taiwan is currently facing difficulties and will definitely participate in the county mayoral election at the end of 2018. Yesterday he held a press conference to officially announce his candidacy for mayor of Taipei.

Su Huanzhi said that he had expected Tsai Ing-wen to lead the people of Taiwan out of the predicament, but the Tsai authorities held the authoritarian mentality of the past, and there were too many unreasonable and inappropriate restrictions, which tied up the economy. For Taiwan's current predicament, such as the low birthrate, the elderly, and the large number of poverty, these weak conditions that require the authorities to "hear the voice and save the suffering", have not been able to propose feasible solutions.

Su Huanzhi said bluntly that after 1 year and 9 months of observation, he had to admit that the political, economic, and social line of the Tsai authorities and the DPP's top brass had deviated from the basic line of revitalizing the economy and taking care of the weak, which not only conflicted with his personal ideas, but also deviated from the ORIGINAL intention of the DPP. He claimed that if he remained in the party, he would no longer be able to contribute to Taiwan, so when he announced his candidacy for mayor of Taipei, he also withdrew from the Democratic Progressive Party for 27 years.

He also shouted to the current mayor, Ke Wenzhe, that the key to winning the election is still in the specific policy, and it is not very good to speak as an Internet celebrity and easy to be reported by the media.

Yao Wenzhi, a "legislator" of the Democratic Progressive Party, said that he respected Su Huanzhi's approach, but it was not true that he hoped to leave the party and hoped that there would be an opportunity to retain it. Former Taiwan regional vice leader Annette Lu told Su Huanzhi to leave the party that this part of the DPP Central Committee should be taken seriously, and if the party finally gives way to Ko Wen-che, "the party will pay a serious price."
