1. Frost white dragonfly
Adult frosted white dragonflies have a bluish grey thorax with a slight purple thorax, a red abdomen, and a slight white powder on the chest and abdomen of mature individuals. There is another subspecies in Taiwan, the Cyria species. It is only distributed in Guanyu and not on the main island of Taiwan.
2. Thin-winged dragonfly
It is the most common and numerous species in Taiwan, and can be seen flying in the sky in autumn. The wings are transparent, the wings are orange-red, and the abdomen is orange-red.
3. Le Xian Dragonfly
The compound eyes are black , the thorax is dark blue , the abdomen is black , the wings are transparent , the hindwings have brown spots , and the wings are dark brown.
4. Purple dragonfly
The ventral eyes are red , the thorax is reddish purple , the abdomen is purple red , the base of the wings is dark orange spots , and the wings are red.
5. Red Dragonfly
The whole body of the red dragonfly is almost bright red, the wings are transparent, and the base is slightly orange.
6. Brown spotted dragonfly
The thorax is brown , the wings are transparent yellow-orange , and the wings are orange-red.
7. Pygmy dragonfly
The pygmy dragonfly is grayish-blue all over the body and has a thin abdomen that can be distinguished from the thick-waisted dragonfly.
8. Thick-waisted dragonfly
Adult thick-waisted dragonflys are pale blue and have many black markings, and the abdomen is 2-5 segments of expansion, hence the name.
9. Fickle dragonflies
The thorax is reddish brown, the abdomen is red, 3/4 of the wing area is dark red, velvet, and the wings are red.
10. Dragonfly
The thorax and abdomen of the dragonfly are black, and the abdomen will have a blue-gray powder.
11. Juniper dragonfly
The compound eyes are dark green , the wings are transparent , and the wings are yellowish brown. The abdomen is swollen like a ball in 1-3 segments, suddenly thinned after the 4th segment, and only 7-10 segments are slightly expanded, and the appendages are white.
12. Hemp spotted fly
This species mainly inhabits the whole island of Taiwan at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, and adult insects appear in April to November. Adults have green compound eyes, a yellowish-green head, black spots in the shape of an "I" shape above the forehead, and a green thorax.
