Diagnosis and prevention of common duck diseases: (viral hepatitis)

author:Arian farming life record

Duck viral hepatitis is an acute, highly lethal infectious disease caused by duck hepatitis virus (DHV) in young ducks. It is characterized by acute onset, rapid transmission, short duration and high mortality. The disease first occurred in the United States (1950), and in China it was in 1963 that the epidemic situation of some farms in Shanghai in the autumn of 1958 and the spring of 1962 was reported. In 1980, the virus was isolated from some duck farms in Beijing, and since then the disease has occurred throughout the country, causing huge losses and is one of the main threats to the duck industry.

Symptoms of duck hepatitis caused by the duck hepatitis I virus have an incubation period of 1-2 days. The epidemic process is short, the onset and spread are fast, once it occurs, the incidence rises sharply, it can reach a peak in a short period of time, and death often occurs within 4-5 days, and then falls rapidly to the end, which is due to the short incubation period and the short course of the disease, and the susceptibility of the chicks decreases with the increase of age.

At the beginning of the onset of the disease, the young ducks are mentally satisfied, the food is wasted, the eyes are half-closed and sleepy, the head touches the ground, and soon there are neurological symptoms, motor disorders, the body falls to one side, the feet spasm and kick, the head twists to the back before death, the angle arch is reversed, and the legs are stretched straight and open backwards in a special posture.

Prevention and control measures: active immunization, 1-day-old duck liver vaccination; passive immunity, early stage of viral hepatitis outbreak, each duck injection of 0.5-1.0mL high free serum or high free yolk fluid, can effectively control the spread of DVH, in case of salmon secondary or mixed infection, then add 2000-4000U/mL gentamicin and other broad-spectrum antibiotics, the effect is better!

Other: strict isolation and prevention; feeding full-price diet; implementing strict disinfection and epidemic prevention, reducing or prohibiting non-breeding personnel to enter and exit, and all personnel entering and leaving the whole body to take disinfection measures!
