
In the 2003-04 Champions League season, Monaco was undoubtedly at a disadvantage. But after qualifying first in the group, they defeated the European giants and unexpectedly advanced to the Champions League final.
Unfortunately, in the final, Deschamps' side was completely beaten 3-0 by Porto led by Mourinho. Since then, Monaco has gone through a difficult period, going through relegation, being acquired, countless coaches, returning to the top flight and winning the title in the 2016/17 season – thanks to Mbappe's appearance.

Goalkeeper: Flavio Roma

Current Club: Retired
Flavio Roma joined Monaco in 2001 and spent nine years at the club, making more than 200 appearances for the team. He left in 2009 to sign with AC Milan, but during his time in San Siro he was unable to be a first-team player and three years later he returned to Monaco.
The Monaco goalkeeper then opted to retire in 2014.
Right-back: Hugo Ibarra

Representative appearances: 35 times
Ibarra actually came on loan from Porto in the 2004 Champions League final. The defender spent only one season in Monaco before moving to Espanyol the following year. The Argentine made 11 appearances for the national team. After 2005, Ibarra spent five years in Boca Juniors before retiring in 2010.
Centre-back: Julian Rodriguez
Age: 41
Representative appearances: 145 times
Julian Rodriguez started his career in Monaco in 1997, playing 145 games over an 8-year period. He was a member of the 2003–04 Champions League final, before signing with Rangers in 2005 and moving to Marseille in 2007. Five years later, at the age of 34, he hung up his boots.
Centre-back: Givet
Age: 38
Representative appearances: 204 times
The combative centre-back spent nine years in Monaco, leaving Monaco in 2007 to join rivals Marseille, but two years later he moved to the Premier League to join Blackburn.
After four years in England, Givett played at Alès Avignon, Evian TG and Tours until his retirement in 2016.
Left-back: Patrice Evra

Current position: Trainer (Manchester United)
One of Monaco's most successful young players, Patrice Evra has played for the French club 148 times. He then played for Premier League side Manchester United, where he won five Premier League trophies and the 2007/08 Champions League, where he also won the Pride A with Juventus.
Before Evra hung up his boots to begin his coaching career in 2018, he had a brief and controversial coaching career at Marseille and West Ham.
Midfielder: Eduardo Cisse

After being loaned from Paris Saint-Germain in the 2003–04 season, Cisse became a key figure in monaco's midfield. He made 44 appearances before moving to Besiktas in 2007. He played for Marseille and then Auxerre until the 38-year-old retired in 2012.
Midfielder: Lucas Bernardi

Current role: Coach (Godoy Cruz FC)
Lucas Bernardi, known for his defensive midfield, made more than 200 appearances and scored three goals. Before signing for Newell Old Boys in 2008, the Argentine spent seven years at the French club. After playing more than 200 games for Newell, he retired six years later and has been coaching the team ever since. Today's tough guy Bernardi is in charge of Godoy Cruz.

Monaco appearances: 128
Current position: AEK Athens youth team leader
Greece international Chicos played 128 games for Monaco in his four years and is known for his defense and steals. He left the club in 2006 and signed with AEK Athens after returning to his home country.
Before helping AEK reach the Champions League qualifiers, Zikos spent two years with the team. He is now in charge of the operations of the Greek Giants Youth Team.
Right wing: Rudovich Gyuli
Age: 43 years old
Representative appearances: 239
One of Monaco's best players, Gyuli made 239 appearances for the team and is a brilliant attacking player. The winger scored 60 goals and seven assists while playing for the French club and moved to Barcelona in 2004.
His time at the Catalan club ended three years later with Giuli joining Roma and Paris Saint-Germain in 2008. He also played briefly in Lyon before re-signing for Monaco in 2011. Gyali eventually returned to the team he first played for, and thus got the stadium that bears his name.
Left Wing: Jerome Rosen

Another flamboyant winger, Jerome Rosen, spent two years in Monaco before moving to Paris Saint-Germain in 2004. The midfielder spent 6 years in Paris, winning 5 trophies. The winger then wandered away, hanging up his boots at the end of the 2013-14 season.
Forward: Fernando Morientes

In the 2003–04 season, Morientes came to Monaco on loan from Real Madrid, scoring 19 goals in 40 games. His impact during his year with the club was incredible, with a move to Premier League side Liverpool the following season. The Spaniard spent only one year in England before returning to Spain in 2006 to sign for Valencia. Before retiring in 2015, he played for Marseille and Santa Ana.
Since then, he has ventured into management and spent time coaching Real Madrid's youth team, although he has yet to find a team to coach.

Sebastian Squillac

Squillaci spent 8 years in Monaco, playing 140 games for the club. He moved to Lyon in 2006 and won two consecutive Ligue 1 titles. The defender spent two years at Sevilla before moving to Arsenal in 2010.
He struggled to make himself a regular in the Emirates Stadium first-team team, eventually hanging up his boots in 2017.

After transferring from Rennes to Monaco in 2000, Nong da spent five years in Monaco. The striker scored 61 goals in 128 games for the French national team and his outstanding goal record led to his move to Roma in 2005. He was loaned to Blackburn in 2006 and retired in 2010, ending his career at Galatasaray.
Throughout his career, Rounda has been best known for his role as a radio DJ in his native Burundi, while he is also a member of the "Peace Champions" group, seeking to create peace through sport alongside other prominent athletes.
