Strolling through the 6,200-square-meter Pearl Museum, guests can not only explore the origin of pearls, but also experience the historical shock of "one step at a time, five thousand years in the blink of an eye".
Pearls have a long history and are an important part of the history of human development. Deqing has beautiful mountains and rivers since ancient times, and artificial pearl cultivation has appeared since the Southern Song Dynasty.
"In 2017, due to the long history of pearl farming, the harmonious coexistence of the ecosystem and the deep integration of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, the 'Deqing Pearl System' was rated as China's important agricultural cultural heritage, and in June 2019, the "Deqing Pearl System" was selected into the tentative list of China's globally important agricultural heritage. Yang An'an, deputy director of Huzhou South Taihu Agricultural Heritage Protection and Development Research Center and president of Osman Holding Group, said.
At present, the total amount of deep processing of pearls in Deqing is nearly 100 tons per year, accounting for about 10% of the total output of freshwater pearls in the country, with an annual output value of more than 7 billion yuan, nearly 3,000 employees in the pearl industry in the county, and nearly 20,000 people are employed, which effectively promotes rural revitalization and common prosperity.
After visiting the Pearl Museum, the guests selected pearl skin care products and pearl jewelry that suited them, and praised Chinese pearls one after another.
In recent years, Deqing has actively advocated the three-dimensional ecological farming of "fish and mussel polyculture", promoted the green and high-quality development of the freshwater pearl industry, and combined pearl farming with deep processing of products, agricultural ecology and cultural tourism, social welfare and helping farmers get rich, etc., to carry out the integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism in various formats, and drive the employment and income of villagers.
It is hoped that through the convening of this China-Europe Beautiful Countryside Forum, more friends can experience the connotation and heritage of Deqing pearl culture up close. In the future, Deqing County will continue to dig deep into its own resource endowment, focus on the development of pearl characteristic industries, promote the comprehensive revitalization of the countryside, help explore new forms and models of urban and rural areas, and write a new chapter of beautiful countryside and a better life.
