In 11 districts of Beijing, 16 "post-80s" acting district chiefs and deputy district chiefs were newly appointed

In late September, 16 district governments in Beijing appointed a number of acting district chiefs and deputy district chiefs, including 16 "post-80s" who served as acting district chiefs and deputy district chiefs in 11 districts respectively.

Among the 16 people, there is one acting district chief and 15 deputy district chiefs. Born in May 1980, Yang Bo was appointed as the acting mayor of Fangshan District, becoming the first "post-80s" acting district chief in Beijing.

On September 15 this year, the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee issued a group of pre-appointment announcements for cadres, and 36 people planned to nominate candidates for deputy district governors, including 13 "post-80s" cadres. The youngest of these "post-80s" cadres was born in July 1984, and five others were born in 1983. Among the 13 "post-80s" cadres, 10 were former secretaries of the party (work) committees of streets and townships, 2 were formerly the top leaders of district government departments, and 1 was formerly a cadre at the department level of the municipal party committee department. In late September, the districts successively appointed acting district chiefs and deputy district chiefs, including 15 "post-80s" deputy district chiefs, involving 11 districts, including the sixth district of the city, and all 13 people who had been announced earlier took office.

From December 2016, when the first six "post-80s" deputy district chiefs in Beijing took office until September this year, Beijing sporadically appointed a number of "post-80s" deputy district chiefs, but the standing committee members and deputy district chiefs of the "post-80s" district committees are still isolated in the leadership teams of various districts. Until the middle of September this year, the Organization Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee announced a list of candidates for district mayors to be nominated, and 13 of the 36 deputy district chiefs to be nominated appeared, accounting for more than one-third. After this round of appointments, there are 3 "post-80s" leaders of the Fangshan District Government, including 1 acting district chief and two deputy district chiefs, and there are more than one "post-80s" district-level party and government leaders in many districts of Beijing.

It should be noted that there are currently more than 11 districts in Beijing with "post-80s" district-level party and government leaders, and the reason why these 11 districts are only counted is because these districts have newly appointed deputy district chiefs in late September. In the other 5 districts, there are also "post-80s" district-level party and government leaders. For example, Tongzhou District currently has two "post-80s" deputy district chiefs. Among them, Su Guobin, born in March 1980, became the deputy mayor of Tongzhou District in October 2018, and Yang Lei, who was born in November 1981, became the deputy mayor of Tongzhou District in late June 2021. For another example, Xu Xiaojun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Shunyi District CPC Committee and deputy district governor, was born in February 1981 and became the deputy district governor in October 2020.
