It is reported that the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla will receive some updates and will enter the market around this winter, and an eight-speed automatic transmission version will be offered for consumers who do not want to buy a six-speed manual transmission version. While today's consumers usually buy automatic transmission models, the Toyota GR Corolla's customers may not be the same. The person in charge of the Toyota brand said that once the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla is launched, it will be split 80/20. In this case, 80% of them referred to the manual crowd and only 20% chose automatic.
Opting for a new eight-speed automatic doesn't simply swap the clutch pedal into a row of letters next to the shift lever, though. Toyota has inserted special software that calculates shift points based on throttle and brake inputs. Theoretically, this means that the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla will recognize different driving situations and shift gears appropriately. At the same time, the automatic transmission is equipped with a new launch control system that is not available for manual transmissions.
Elsewhere, the 2025 Toyota GR Corolla will have its engine retuned, with the turbocharged 1.6-liter three-cylinder still making 300 horsepower but a whopping 295 pound-feet of torque. Toyota has also tweaked the suspension for calmer rides, and a Tosen differential is also standard across the range.
