On October 12th, the theme activity of "Dialogue Across Time and Space - The Story of the Central Axis" was held at the First Historical Archives of China.

The theme activity of "Dialogue Across Time and Space - The Story of the Central Axis" was held

With the successful application of Beijing's central axis as a World Heritage Site, from the Bell and Drum Tower to Wanning Bridge, from Jingshan to the Forbidden City, from Taimiao to Duanmen, from Shejitan to Tiananmen, from Zhengyangmen to Tiananmen, from Xiannongtan to Yongdingmen, the 15 heritage sites of Beijing's central axis have attracted the attention of the public. This event led the audience to understand the story of the central axis and open a dialogue across time and space.

Li Guorong, former deputy director and research librarian of the First Historical Archives of China, and Li Jianping, former deputy director and researcher of the Beijing Municipal Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences, conducted an academic dialogue on "Beijing's Central Axis World Heritage Site and the Central Axis Culture in the Ming and Qing Archives". Under the chairmanship of Wu Yuanyuan, Director of the Editorial and Research Office of the First Historical Archives of China, the two experts jointly revealed the historical context behind the central axis of Beijing, told the special charm and outstanding characteristics of the culture of the central axis of Beijing, and introduced the application of the central axis of Beijing for World Heritage and its special significance, so that the audience realized that its importance is not only as a classic form of urban planning and layout, but more importantly, the architectural style and cultural history of the central axis and its surroundings have accumulated for thousands of years, constituting a microcosm of the long-standing Chinese civilization. It is worthy of our in-depth understanding and excavation of the cultural connotation.

After the dialogue, Sun Dongning, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Prince Gong's Mansion Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, shared the research results of the intangible cultural heritage of Beijing's Central Axis. Li Zhe, vice chairman of the Beijing Dongcheng District Federation of Literary and Art Circles, shared the content of "The Gate of the Central Axis", focusing on the time-space code hidden in the old photos, and leading the audience to open the door of time and space of the central axis through the exploration process of pictures and texts, bringing the audience a novel and vivid special reading experience.

The event was guided by the leading group of the Beijing Reading Season of the Scholarly China ·, hosted by the Propaganda Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, co-organized by the First Historical Archives of China, and supported by the Propaganda Department of the Dongcheng District Committee of Beijing.
