In autumn, Songjiang No. 2 Middle School is still full of vitality in the quiet of the leaves quietly turning yellow. The white marble statue of Hou Shaoqiu in a corner of the campus is full of vitality. Dozens of years have passed, like a familiar old man, watching the changes of the campus at four times, although he can't speak, but it tells the story of the revolutionary war years, the people with lofty ideals for the fate of the country and the happiness of the people.
Hou Shaoqiu, who joined the Communist Party of China in the autumn of 1923, was the first Communist Party member in Songjiang, and was also an early leader of the Communist Party of China, a participant and leader of the May Revolution, and the main person in charge of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Department of the Kuomintang during the Great Revolution. In 1927, he died in Nanjing on the eve of the April 12 counter-revolutionary coup d'état at the age of 31.
When he was a student, Hou Shaoqiu studied at Songjiang No. 2 Middle School. In 1986, the Martyrs Cemetery cooperated with Songjiang No. 2 Middle School to build a bust of the martyr Hou Shaoqiu in the school. Since then, the martyrs have "returned" to their familiar alma mater and accompanied batch after batch of younger students to grow up strongly. Since then, the young people of Songjiang No. 2 Middle School and even the entire Songjiang have another place for patriotic education to talk about heroes and martyrs.
On the afternoon of September 29, a group of students met to pay homage to the statue of martyr Hou Shaoqiu. Yan Nanqiu, a young teacher who had graduated from Songjiang No. 2 Middle School, also went with him. In front of this statue, Hou Shaoqiu's spiritual pursuit has infected generations of Songjiang students. "A person is not born for himself, but for society and mankind, and takes the greatest happiness of the greatest number of people as the ultimate goal and the greatest responsibility of life, and takes pleasure in fulfilling this responsibility." Yan Nanqiu said that when he was a student, this noble pursuit of martyr Hou Shaoqiu inspired him and hundreds of his classmates. Now, returning to Songjiang No. 2 Middle School as a teacher, he said that he will also accompany the students to grow upward with the spirit of martyr Hou Shaoqiu.
The students were also deeply impressed. "Martyr Hou Shaoqiu, knowing that his personal strength is minimal, can still resolutely stand up, sacrifice his small self for the big self, and put the interests of the country and the people first." Bai Chenming, a student in the second (4th) class of high school, said that he was deeply impressed by this. In the view of Xie Jumei, a student of the third (4th) class of high school, the martyr Hou Shaoqiu standing on the campus is like a living teaching material that inspires young students to live up to the song of prosperity with youthful progress.
Ai Weifeng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice principal of Songjiang No. 2 Middle School, introduced that Songjiang No. 2 Middle School was founded in 1904, originated in 1753 (the eighteenth year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty) of the "Yunjian Academy", and in 1904, the end of the "new school" was built in Songjiang Fu Middle School, 120 years ago. The school has a long history and profound cultural accumulation, and is a well-known "famous school in the ancient city" in the education industry. Over the years, the school has adhered to the principle of "selecting the best of tradition and taking the road of innovation", advancing with the times, innovating the form of education, passing on the red gene from generation to generation, and integrating the "red blood" into the whole process of high-quality development of the school. As the alma mater of the martyr Hou Shaoqiu, the school plays a leading role in telling the story of the heroic alumnus Hou Shaoqiu, and just a few years ago, it also organized teachers and students to create a drama based on Hou Shaoqiu - "Road".
