On the morning of October 2, the reporter came to the "Wenchang Chicken Master" farm in Linmao Village, Gongpo Town, Wenchang City, and Fan Shuni, a farmer, was busy. During the National Day holiday, many people choose to travel, but Fan Shuni is concerned about 106,800 chicken seedlings and is still silently sticking to them. In the chicken farm, Fan Shuni was so busy that her forehead was sweating. The reporter saw that the chickens were pecking in the automatic water trough. In another chicken coop, the chicks are kept warm by hot air from a fan. "Compared with traditional lighting, burning coal to keep the chicks warm and the air quality in the chicken coop is also better." Fan Shani said.

On September 6, super typhoon "Capricorn" hit Wenchang hard. Fan Shuni happened to sell the finished chickens from the farm, and the damage caused by the typhoon was not large. "The typhoon caused the town to be cut off from water, electricity and the internet for many days, and I repaired some of the damaged chicken sheds." In order to help farmers resume work and production as soon as possible, a few days after the typhoon, she used her own empty chicken shed to quickly cooperate with Hainan Chuanwei Wenchang Chicken Industry Co., Ltd. to incubate 106,800 chicken seedlings, and wait for farmers to rebuild the chicken shed, and then distribute them to cooperative breeding.

Wenchang chicken is famous at home and abroad for its "crispy skin, tender meat and crispy bones". As early as many years ago, "Hainan chicken rice" with Wenchang chicken as an ingredient was popular in Southeast Asia. Today, the "coconut chicken soup" with Hainan coconut and Wenchang chicken as the main ingredients is not only favored by consumers in Hainan, but also flourished in Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. A small egg gave birth to Wenchang chicken, and also gave birth to a national geographical indication product for Wenchang, and it also grew into a pillar industry of Wenchang with an annual output value of about 4 billion yuan. Since 2018, Fan Shuni has led 41 farmers to breed Wenchang chickens, and has slaughtered more than 4 million Wenchang chickens, with an output value of more than 150 million yuan and a cumulative net income of more than 10 million yuan.

In Wenchang, there are many villagers in towns and villages who, like Fan Shuni, have become rich by breeding Wenchang chickens, but this typhoon has hit many Wenchang chicken farmers hard.
