Dai Dongchang, former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport, Deputy Director of the Economic Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Vice Chairman of the Global Sustainable Transportation Innovation Alliance, said that in the context of globalization, transportation and logistics have become an important issue of common concern to people around the world. Dai Dongchang said that in terms of strengthening technological innovation, China's new transportation infrastructure application scenarios have gradually landed, smart logistics technology has accelerated its application in the logistics industry, and new technologies such as big data, the Internet, artificial intelligence, and blockchain have been deeply integrated with the transportation industry. At present, the mainland is vigorously promoting a new round of transportation equipment upgrading and accelerating the application of low-carbon transportation facilities and equipment.

In order to promote the development of the logistics supply chain system in a more efficient, safe, resilient and sustainable direction, Dai Dongchang said that it is necessary to work together in four aspects: strengthening infrastructure construction, optimizing the construction of logistics system, promoting green and low-carbon transformation, and strengthening international cooperation and exchanges.

In order to enhance the core competitiveness, Ma Xiaoqun, general manager of China Postal Express Logistics Co., Ltd., said that in order to meet the urgent needs of the postal express industry in digital services, China Post's network organization and element arrangement have basically realized intelligent scheduling. Focusing on green development, China Post has also made great progress in the greening and unmanned use of automobiles.

Hu Wei, senior vice president of JD Group and CEO of JD Logistics, believes that logistics is an important infrastructure for the entire human society, and resilience is a challenge that every enterprise must face. Focusing on logistics enterprises, resilience is the foundation. With the change of demand, the current trend of "stronger planning and weaker planning" of logistics enterprises by customers, that is, customers' requirements for cargo distribution capacity and layout ability are improved, and higher requirements are also put forward for the ability of logistics enterprises to cope with sudden explosions. In this regard, Hu Wei said that logistics enterprises must first have a relatively complete, large-scale and efficient infrastructure. Secondly, the integrated supply chain capability should "go global" and continue to weave a dense global warehouse network. Third, we must adhere to technology-driven and further improve efficiency through automation equipment innovation and system innovation.

02Promote the efficiency of the logistics industry with scientific and technological progress

Wang Wei, chairman and general manager of SF Holding Co., Ltd., believes that due to the changes in customer needs faced by customers such as platforms and offline stores, their demand for the logistics system has also undergone great changes, so the logistics industry should keep up with the changes of "customers", such as environmental protection, informatization, cost, response speed, intelligence and other requirements. Wang Wei said: "For logistics companies, the external environment is not a test, but their own adaptability is a test. ”

"At present, the reduction of social logistics demand, rising costs and the uncertainty of the external environment have brought challenges to the survival and development of logistics enterprises, and customer groups have continuously improved requirements for the quality of transportation services, and at the same time require faster response and more flexible service models, which puts forward higher requirements for the operational efficiency and innovation ability of logistics enterprises." Zhang Tianlei, founder and CEO of Mainline Technology, said in an interview with a reporter from China Automotive News.

Wang Wei believes that logistics companies should first change from the spiritual level of vision, mission, and culture, and then reorganize the strategy, market, and product positioning. Second, the organizational model and job responsibilities should also be changed to meet customer needs faster. Third, in order to be closer to customers and better understand customer needs, the original authorization and approval process also needs to be completely changed. Fourth, it is necessary to absorb and train new-type talents and establish an incentive system.

In addition to the transformation of logistics enterprises themselves, scientific and technological progress has also become an important means to promote the efficiency and resilience of the logistics industry.

"We believe that the development and application of digital intelligence and other technologies will help the logistics industry to further improve efficiency, reduce accidents (rates), reduce costs, and move towards a green and low-carbon direction. Based on autonomous driving technology, it runs 24 hours a day, improving transportation efficiency and reducing labor costs. Accurate route planning and real-time obstacle avoidance capabilities help reduce transportation time, optimize fuel consumption and maintenance processes, and save operating costs. Reduce accidents caused by human error through advanced sensors and algorithms, monitor vehicle status and environmental information in real time, and react in time to avoid potential hazards. At the same time, combined with new energy technologies, we will promote the popularization of electrified autonomous vehicles and reduce carbon emissions. Zhang Tianlei believes that "based on the vehicle-road-cloud integration technology, we are expected to optimize traffic management; Based on the cloud-based platform, we can centrally process and analyze large amounts of data from vehicles and roads, so that we can select the best route for transportation vehicles and enhance their ability to work together. The base of the cloud platform based on big data and AI can provide logistics companies with accurate market forecasting, inventory management and scheduling optimization suggestions. All these can help logistics companies and the industry as a whole to continuously reduce costs, improve efficiency, and become more resilient. ”

It is understood that the two-day Global Sustainable Transport Summit Forum (2024) will focus on the following five major development issues around sustainable transportation: First, global governance - the establishment of a global sustainable transport partnership. The second is connectivity: strengthen cooperation in government governance and security and emergency response, and build a resilient global logistics supply chain. The third is common development – to create a fair, inclusive and sustainable rural transport system, so that everyone can enjoy a safe and convenient travel environment. Fourth, innovation-driven - artificial intelligence empowers the new development of transportation and creates a new growth engine for the low-altitude economy. Fifth, ecological priority - promote the development of new energy and accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation of global transportation.

During the forum, all parties will jointly release a series of practical outcomes, including relevant initiatives on implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and promoting sustainable transport development, and the China Sustainable Transport Development Report (2023).
