The intersection of Daqing Road and Renmin Road in Fancheng is located in the bustling old commercial district, which is restricted by the environment of "many cars and narrow roads", and there will always be "fixed" congestion when the traffic turns left and goes straight during the morning and evening travel peaks and holidays. In order to effectively alleviate and improve this situation, on September 25, the Xiangyang traffic police innovatively launched the "intelligent variable tidal lane" to further improve the level of refined traffic management in the easily congested road sections, making the city smarter and travel more convenient.
Yang Feng, deputy chief of the order section of the traffic police detachment of the Xiangyang Municipal Public Security Bureau, introduced that the length of the intelligent variable tidal lane is 80 meters, which is composed of 17 groups of tidal robots, and the power is provided by the solar panels brought by each group of robots, which are green and environmentally friendly, with strong energy storage, and can be used in continuous rainy weather. During the peak period, the original number of lanes will be maintained, and during the morning and evening peak periods, the tidal robot will move in parallel to the outside, adding a new left-turn lane to improve the efficiency of lane traffic utilization.
Traffic police can achieve lane change operation through remote operation or proximal remote control adjustment, when the lane changes, the red warning light installed on the top of each group of robots will automatically flash a reminder, plus the on-site traffic police command, to ensure mobile safety, the entire lane change process can be completed in about 30 seconds, in the morning of the 25th, the vehicle queue length is significantly shortened, and the traffic efficiency is increased by more than 20%.
The fine management of intersections is the central work of the Xiangyang traffic police this year, and the intelligent variable tidal lane has been put into use, coupled with the intelligent adaptive light regulation and control of urban intersections, which has broken the duty mode of the previous crowd tactics, from static to dynamic, changing from passive to active, and carrying out early detection, heavy intervention and quick disposal of situations that may cause congestion.
