On September 22, the "Shazhou Youhuang Cup" 2024 Kiteboard Asian Championships and China Kiteboard Tour Daishan Station came to an end in Daishan County, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang.
The competition was co-sponsored by the World Sailing Federation, the International Kiteboard Association IKA, the China Sailing and Windsurfing Association, the Zhejiang Provincial Sports Bureau, and the Zhoushan Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the Zhoushan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, the Daishan County People's Government, and the Zhejiang Sailing Association.
As the highest-level kiteboard competition in Asia and China, this event is an important opportunity and platform for participating athletes to improve their international rankings and compete for annual Asian points and individual professional rankings. The competition attracted 120 top kiteboard players from China, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Argentina, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Denmark, Hong Kong and other countries and regions.
Daishan is located in the middle of the Zhoushan Archipelago New Area, backed by the Shanghai-Hangzhou-Ningbo metropolitan area, superimposed with national strategies such as the Pilot Free Trade Zone, the bulk commodity storage and transportation base, and the Jianghai Intermodal Transport Service Center, and is a 100-billion-level marine industry new city with distinctive characteristics in the Yangtze River Delta. The 3.6-kilometer-long Lulan Qingsha in Daishan County successfully held the Daishan Station of the China Kiteboard Tour last year, fully demonstrating the unique sports charm and super ornamentality of kiteboarding, and also verifying that this beach is a natural high-quality venue for kitesurfing, and the successful holding of the competition will further enhance the popularity of sports and leisure on Daishan Island.
At the closing ceremony, Gao Dailong, director of the Daishan County Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, expressed his gratitude to all the participating athletes and the International Kiteboard Association and the China Sailing and Windsurfing Association for their strong support.
In his speech, Markus · Schwentner, Secretary General of the International Kiteboard Association, thanked Daishan for providing a very excellent environment for the competition with its unique island scenery and hospitable people, and said that in the future, the International Kiteboard Association will continue to maintain close cooperation with the China Sailing and Windsurfing Association to jointly promote the development and popularization of kiteboarding in China.
Wang Jiaxin, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Sailing and Windsurfing Association and Director of the Competition Department, said at the closing ceremony that the China Kiteboard Tour has once again settled in Daishan and added the Asian Kiteboard Championship for the first time, which not only effectively demonstrates the unique charm and image of Daishan as a coastal city. More importantly, the Asian Kiteboard Championships, as a professional-level event, provides an important way to select and train outstanding athletes, help China prepare for the Olympic Games, and allow top athletes in the mainland to continue to hone in different competitive environments and achieve both skills and psychological quality improvement.
In the "Shazhou Youhuang Cup" 2024 Kiteboard Asian Championships, the Chinese team players played well, Li Wan, Liu Chenxue, and Xiao Meijing won the champion, second and third place in the women's kite hydrofoil racing group, and Mo Yulu, Li Qiuyang and Gao Jingjie won the champion, second and third place in the women's two-way board racing group. On the men's side, in the men's kite hydrofoil racing category, Singapore's Maximilian Maeder won the championship, China's Zhang Haoran was the second runner-up, and Wu Jiangang was the third runner-up. In the men's two-way board racing category, Thailand's Narapichit Pudla won the championship, Philippines' Khristopher Ken Naror won the second place, and China's Lin Xing won the third place.
At the 2024 China Kiteboard Tour Daishan Station, China's Xiao Meijuan won the women's wings race, Thailand's Narapichit Pudla won the men's two-way board race, China's Mo Yulu won the women's two-way board race, and Hong Kong's Zhou Zixi won the men's wind wing race.
